A Year Long Workshop to Get Your Novel or Memoir Written

PLEASE NOTE: A NOVEL APPROACH TO FICTION
and
A NOVEL APPROACH to MEMOIR
are fully booked and the adventure has begun!

Registration for A Novel Approach 2013 will begin in the Fall 2012.

If you’ve been saying for years “I’ve got to get that book written!” this is your opportunity to make it happen.

Starting January 9th, 2012, A Novel Approach is your weekly commitment to work on your novel or memoir.

Bi-weekly workshops that target various key aspects of writing a novel or memoir, will be held approximately every second Monday. There will also be lots of time for writing, sharing and learning the skills of constructive criticism and generous feedback.

In class we will be doing on-the-spot exercises working with storylining, plot, character development, narrative structure, story development, etc.

Then in the off-week between classes, you will continue the work begun in class, sometimes supplemented by take-home exercises, with a goal of producing 12 pages (3,000 words approximately) before the next class. (If you do the math: 12 page times 26 weeks is approximately 78,000 words or 300 pages, a solid first draft of a novel.)

By New Years Day, 2013, you will have the first draft of your book finished. If you’re one of those writers who can turn out a first draft that is ready to be shopped to agents and publishers, you’re on your way! If you need more time to work through a second draft, you’ve got that elusive first draft to work with now. We even provide a series of weekly proofing workshops in the second year for those who want a little more time and input.

The buttons on the left have been created to explain the benefits of each aspect of the course. Now that we are about to start our fourth year sharing the writing process with other authors, we are excited to be offering some new options.

In 2012
A Novel Approach to Fiction will be facilitated by James Dewar
