Laux/Millar RR Poetry Prize Raleigh Review

JUDGING

  • STANDARD ENTRY FEE: $15 USD
  • IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, THERE IS AN OPTION TO SUBMIT FOR FREE HERE ON DUOSUMA.
  • FREE SUBMISSIONS BASED ON HARDSHIP ARE ON THE HONOR SYSTEM, NO APPLICATION or EVIDENCE REQUIRED.
  • YOU MAY ALSO TIP LESS THAN THE STANDARD RATE, TIPS ARE OPTIONAL.
  • DORIANNE LAUX & JOSEPH MILLAR ARE THE FINAL JUDGES.

PRIZES

  • First Prize includes $500 USD and publication.
  • Finalists will receive standard $15 payment along with publication.
  • Honorable Mentions will be considered for publication and standard payment.
  • All Finalists and Honorable Mentions will receive a 2-year subscription to Raleigh Review
  • International winners, those based outside the US, will receive payment
    in copies of Raleigh Review.

GUIDELINES:

  • Opens on January 1, 2024 (on both Submittable and Duosuma) 
  • Duosuma deadline is February 2, 2024 – Fee Free or Tip Jar.
    The fee free option is for those who are truly in need of a fee free pathway.
    A dislike, a disdain or an aversion for fees alone is not a qualifier for the fee free submission option.
    We do not ask for evidence or for an application. The fee free option is on the honor system. 
  • Submittable Deadline is June 1, 2024 at midnight EST.
  • WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE SUBMISSIONS AT ANYTIME.
  • We never extend deadlines. 
  • Submit up to five pages of unpublished poems per entry.
  • Attached files should be free of personal identifiers such as name, address, phone and email, social media handles, etc.
  • Simultaneous submissions are acceptable.
  • Failure to meet guidelines may result in disqualification.
  • Current students or affiliates of Raleigh Review editorial staff and Raleigh Review board members are not eligible to enter.
  • This contest is open to poets who reside in the USA (regardless of immigration status).
  • Beginning in 2021, those outside the USA are most welcome to submit to this prize though payment for any winners who happen to be based outside the USA will be in copies of Raleigh Review since we are not permitted to mail checks outside our own country.
