PFN – Call for Submissions to The Primer: A quarterly periodical of the strange and the beautiful. Theme: Efflorescence
Submissions for Vol. One, Issue Five are open
Our publication avidly encompasses broad fields – from literature to science, history to music, all disciplines are welcome. We’re simply guided by this question: how do beauty and strangeness collide?
For our fifth issue, we’re approaching this inquiry through the theme of Efflorescence. Of renewal and rejuvenation, of coming into one’s own maturation — the process of efflorescence is about surrendering to change and leaning into the burgeoning possibilities of the new. “A bursting into flower”, an “act of blossoming out”, it is to embrace desire and feel one’s beauty, greatly. It is also, however, to be at a point of utter vulnerability. Budding shoots are fragile, after all — they are susceptible to harsh winds and careless gestures that, whether deliberately or unknowingly, tear them clean or scythe them down. What does it mean to bloom, for you?
Take that in any direction: you could reflect on a nascent love for something new or your coming-of-age, then and now; you could consider what you’ve left behind to start anew or the growing pains of who you’re developing into. All these, and more, are welcome in Vol. Two, Issue Five.
