PF – Bronze Bird Books Love Poetry Anthology Seeking: Expressions of love with a seasonal arc
To create a cohesive and deeply heartfelt book, we’re primarily looking for expressions of romantic or Éros love.
As much as possible, this anthology will tie various expressions of love to a seasonal arc. So, whether it’s pumpkin spice latte dates in autumn or nostalgic recollections of summer love on a Coney Island boardwalk, we welcome a specific sense of atmosphere. In past collections, we’ve received many submissions about grief or the loss of a partner; we’ll consider those for this project, too, if the poem ultimately celebrates the love that existed or persists.
Publication Notes / FAQ:
- July 15th is the deadline for submissions.
- If your submission is accepted for publication, we will notify you by August 1st. If you haven’t heard from us by then, consider it a pass. (Since email deliverability can be a complex ordeal with many variables, we recommend that you periodically check your spam folder in case we don’t directly reach your inbox.)
- Submitted work should not have been previously published; needless to say, it should also be original, true to your experience, and not written entirely by a bot!
- We generally prefer poetry without complicated formatting. Longer lines of poetry don’t always fit in our standard 6” x 9” trim size. If it’s a prose poem, it’s OK. Otherwise, anticipate that very long lines may spill over if you exceed 68 characters and consider rebalancing your line breaks.
- We are also open to prose poetry/flash fiction if it is thematically relevant. We will consider anything up to 1,000 words.
- All submitted works should have titles. We include a table of contents and need to refer to your work in some way.
- Contributors grant First Publication Rights to the Bronze Bird Books love anthology. All rights revert to the author after publication. We will work to promote this collection and all contributors therein, with bios and promotional links included at the end of the manuscript. All accepted contributors will receive a digital copy of the collection; the press does not have the resources to provide complimentary print copies.
- After you complete the Google Form, you should automatically receive a copy of it. That email copy may alter the appearance/formatting of your submission; however, rest assured that we have received the text exactly as you inputted it.
