We are only seeking essays on film and theatre theory, including work relating to: directors; actors; writers; cinematographers; production design; set design; theatre lighting; and scores/composers. We also accept film/theatre reviews.

We are not seeking general CNF at this time.

General guidelines:

Submissions must be made through our Google form. We won’t take email submissions without prior agreement. This helps us to stay organised.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted. If your work is accepted elsewhere, please email us to withdraw (and so we can offer our congratulations!)

All work must be your own. Pieces created created wholly or in part by A.I. are not accepted. A.I. has no place in the literary and creative arts.

We do not accept work glorifying bigotry or discrimination in any form.

All written work must be in English.

We do not accept previously published pieces.

You may submit across multiple categories, but please only once each per submission call.

We ask for first publishing rights if we accept your work. All rights revert back to you, the author/artist, upon publication. If you go on to publish the piece elsewhere, please credit Viridine Literary as the first publisher.

What we like to see:

Innovative, character-led work.

Pieces that dip into the bizarre, surreal, or absurd.

Diverse representation that subverts stereotypes and offers fresh perspectives.

Precise, deliberate, and consistent mastery of language.

Make us laugh. Make us fume. Make us grateful. Make us cry. Make us feel.
