F – Riptide Journal Call for Submissions. Theme: “Breath”

July 15, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Call for Submissions

‘All these wars on life begin by taking away breath.’  – Achille Mbembe, The Universal Right to Breathe

‘It’s funny, but you never really think much about breathing. Until it’s all you ever think about.’ – Tim Winton, Breath

Riptide invites short story writers to pause and write a story inspired by the theme of our next issue, BREATH.  Whether it’s pressed out or held beyond endurance, bated or panted, BREATH animates our next issue. From the first breath to the last one, or any of those in between, we want to see where the theme will take you.

‘All things share the same breath — the beast, the tree, the man. The air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.’ – Chief Seattle
