The Montreal International Poetry Prize is a not-for-profit, grassroots initiative centred on the art of the poem and is committed to encouraging the creation of original works of poetry. It is open to poets from around the world and embraces the diversity of contemporary anglophone poetry.

The Montreal Prize recognizes the craft, design, and aesthetics of the stand-alone poem. It emphasizes the space that poetry opens for insight, beauty, and wonder.

The prize is $20,000 and the final deadline is 15 May 2022

Each entry must consist of 40 lines or fewer. Multiple entries are welcome.

The Montreal Prize recognizes the craft, design, and aesthetics of the stand-alone poem. It emphasizes the space that poetry opens for insight, beauty, and wonder.

All entries must be original and previously unpublished. The Montreal Prize supports the emergence of new poems and new poets, positioning itself close to the moment of creation, and encouraging the writing and the sharing of original works.

To submit your work, please visit our submission platform.

An international jury of prominent poets will select a shortlist of approximately 60 poems.

These will be published by Véhicule Press in The Global Poetry Anthology 2022 and on the Montreal Prize website. The winning poem will be selected from these finalists by this year’s distinguished judge, Lorna Goodison.
