In lieu of a regular issue, The Marbled Sigh is proud to solicit submissions for an online anthology of political poems. Please submit 1-4 political poems to themarbledsigh@gmail.com. Deadline: Dec. 1, 2024 EST

There are a variety of topics to consider for political poetry:

Human Rights

Health

Disability Issues

Immigration/Migration

Whilst the editors live in the United States, poets are more than welcome to write and submit political poems about where they are in the world. For example, if you live in India, you can submit a political poem about Indian politics.

In the subject line of the email submission, write your first and last name/pen name and the title of your first poem.

Ex: Maya Angelou- And Still I Rise

Send all submissions to: themarbledsigh@gmail.com

Furthermore, please only submit if you are an emerging writer. We define emerging writers as anyone who has no more than one full-length book (this includes, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, comics, etc).  If you are making a transition into another genre, please let us know in the cover letter. For instance, if you primarily write fiction and have fiction books published but no poetry books, let us know in the cover letter.

We will not accept any previously published poems.

Upon publication, a Zoom reading will be held to commemorate the new issue. If you are published, we, as the editors, need you to confirm via email if you will be available to read the poem. If not, we will assume you are not available and your poem will not be read.

Please note, acceptance for publication is not based on the poet’s availability to read on Zoom, although we would appreciate you being part of the literary community.

We will not accept any poems that promote homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, or anything that can be seen as hate speech.

We will not accept any work produced by Artificial Intelligence (A.I.).

All rights revert back to you, the author, after publication.

We ask that in the event that your poems are published in a book or another journal, please mention us, The Marbled Sigh, in the acknowledgements.
