We are very pleased to announce our next annual writing competition – on the theme of ‘risking all’ – in a tribute to the Everest climbing team who set off on an ambitious expedition aiming to reach the summit, 100 years ago. Please spread the word as we invite you to send in your own creative piece in prose or poetry, inspired by the ideas below … deadline is 31 August 2024.

SaveAs Writers are inviting entries of prose and/or poems on the theme of “RISKING ALL” – the theme can be broadly interpreted Your story of poem can relate to mountaineering or to love, finance, sport or any situation / emotion / idea which has a link to “risking all”.
Poems: 60 lines maximum
Short Stories: 3,500 words maximum

Poetry: The Canterbury Christ Church University Poetry Prize of £200, Second £100, Third £50
Prose: The Canterbury Festival Fiction Prize, sponsored by Canterbury Festival, of £200, Second £100, Third £50
