PFN – Litmora Literary Magazine Seeking Submissions on the Theme of Flower Language

March 9, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

For this issue, our theme is flower language – take that as you will. Hanihaki, Victorian declarations of betrayal and hurt, or how plants communicate with each other and the world around them. Alternatively, anything we haven’t listed here – the weirder the better! Hit us with what you’ve got!

ISSUE 3 Theme: Flower Language

Spring’s approaching here in Western New York, and thus we’ll begin to see the snowdrops and daffodils make their way up through the ground or snow. Sometimes, both! For this issue, we’re looking for pieces that incorporate aspects of flower language into the piece or wholly embody the concept – we aren’t particular subscribers to any “one” flower language. If the meaning is clear (or unclear, even), we’re on board – we aren’t all too picky. Just have fun and make us look back and double-check preconceived notions of what hydrangeas (or: any other flower) mean.

This theme is also not limited to just flowers, but botany as a whole. What does it mean when we have a hollowed-out pumpkin stuffed with daylillies on our front porch? Whatever the answer, we’re looking forward to it!

We look forward to seeing your work! We’ve got some rough guidelines for submissions – please email us if your submission can’t be uploaded in any of these forms – we can definitely work something out!

  • We accept our submissions blind. Please don’t submit documents with your name on them! We will yell.
  • Make sure you’re not plagiarizing someone else’s work. If your piece references another work, please be sure to indicate that in your submission.
  • We will not accept works which promote hate speech, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. Common sense. Kinda?
  • ONE submission (piece) PER dropbox. Do not send three prose pieces in one box and then two poems in another. We will also yell about this, and may reject all if you are submitting more pieces than there are dropboxes.
  • Previously-accepted submissions are more than fine! Just let us know who accepted it first, so we can credit them 🙂
