PFN – Minerva Rising Seeks Submissions: Then, Now, and Future

Minerva Rising, an independent literary press that celebrates the creativity and wisdom in every woman, will be accepting submissions for its special 10th anniversary anthology.

Then, Now, and Future –– the editorial team is looking to publish both previous and new contributors’ poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction work to help celebrate the themes of growth, change, and reflection. As writers, we constantly catalog and memorialize ourselves and experiences into succinct pieces that act, at times, as time capsules. Our writing often begs us to consider who we were a year ago, five years ago, ten years ago. As artists, our writing captures and reflects the changes enacted in our personal lives. There is power in both the act of writing but also in the sharing. Inviting readers to explore our work showcases vulnerability, strength, and connection. Often, we learn who we were or who we can become from rereading previous work. There’s a prompting of reflection that pushes us to ask what’s next? We’re often taught not to look back, to live in the present, to not focus on the future, but what if that curiosity propelled reflection and introspection? What if, instead of labeling writing as old and new, we celebrated it like we celebrate our lives with loved ones? What if we collected ourselves, and the work of others, into a collection that spoke of hope?

The reading period for Then, Now, and Future will be open until June 5, 2020. We look forward to reading your work.
