PFN – Yolk Literary Journal Seeking Submission on the Theme: “Solastalgia”

Yolk is now accepting submissions for Volume 3.2.

While we will continue accepting international submissions for our digital publication, yolk exclusively publishes Canadian contributors in print. The theme for this issue is: Solastalgia.

Solastalgia. Tightening at the smell of smoke. Recoiling at the sight of receding glaciers. Close the news app. Shudder in a foreign home. I’m sorry for the heat. I’m sorry for the mercury. This is a new kind of grief, with a nascent voice. Speak to it.

For our publication, we consider a Canadian to be:
– Anyone with Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, residing here or abroad.
– Anyone that currently resides in Canada.‍

‍Given Canada’s deeply colonial and convoluted history, the literary and artistic works that have been produced within its landscape have permuted considerably, resulting in not a singular national literary voice, but a multitude of perspectives, styles, and literatures. While we love to read submissions from around the world, as a Montreal-based literary journal, we feel it is important to provide a platform that best showcases the diverse voices, talents, and words that form Canada’s distinct literary sphere. ‍

‍During the submission window for 3.2, we kindly ask those submitting to print to include ‘3.2 Print Publication Submission’ in the subject line of your email, while international contributors should include ‘Digital Publication Submission’.
