DESCRIPTION:EPIC Writing Contest Information and Rules.\n​Please read carefully!\nSubmission period: 8 a.m. February 1 through 5 p.m. on Friday\, April 8\, 2022.\n​You may submit a single work in only ONE of the categories below: \n\nPROSE – (fiction\, non-fiction\, or memoir). Adults and Students in grades 8-12\nPOETRY – Adults and Students in grades 8-12\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease Note: contest judges\, EPIC board members\, committee members\, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter this contest. Your work must be in English\, and not previously published. Entries containing graphic sexuality\, extreme violence or gratuitous offensive language will not be considered.\nOur judges will evaluate your work with attention to organization\, development\, voice\, and attention to the conventions and craft of writing.\n\n\n\n\n\nSUBMISSION RULES and FORMATTING\n\n\nAll entries must be submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx)\nAll submissions must have the title and page number(s) in the top right corner of the page.\nDO NOT include your name on the document.\n\n\n​PROSE\nFormatting: \n\nDouble-spaced\, one-inch margins\, 12-point Times New Roman.\nMaximum 1\,500 words.\nDO NOT include your name on the document.\n\nPOETRY\n​Formatting: \n\nNo margin and spacing requirements.\n12-point Times New Roman. ​\nDO  NOT include your name on the document.​\n\nENTRY FEES: \n\nPayments must be made through PayPal\, which also accepts your credit card.\nAdult-EPIC Member: $10 (non-refundable)\nAdult-Non-Member: $15  (non-refundable). Not a member? Click here to join.\nStudents (grades 8 – 12): Free\n\n​PRIZES: \n\nFirst Place (prose and poetry) $150\n\n\nSecond Place (prose and poetry) $75\nHonorable mentions may be selected at the discretion of the judges. No cash awards.\n\nWinners will be notified May 7- 8\, 2022. The Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday\, May 18\, 2022. Time and venue (Zoom or The Louvre Café in Edmonds) to be announced at a later date. ​At the Awards Ceremony\, winners will be invited to read their winning works. \nPLEASE NOTE: ALL winning entries will be published on the EPIC website and EPIC social media sites.
