SUMMARY:P - Yaffle's Nest Competition. Theme: "What we Inherit from Water"
DESCRIPTION: \n\n\nWater is essential for life. We drink it\, wash with it\, swim in it. Some of our earliest memories involve the taste or smell or sound of it. Water has the power to change landscapes\, it can soothe and frighten us\, but one thing is for sure\, we can’t live without it. \nThis competition will look for poems that speak to us about what we inherit from water and what that means depends on your own relationship with it. We want to see poems which show what you get from water in all its many forms. Poems that show what water provides and what it takes away. How being near it and in it makes you feel and what it’s like to be without it. Use water to write about something else. Tell us how it is\, tell us how it isn’t! \nThe competition judge is Mark Connors. First prize is £200\, second prize £50.00 and the third prize £25.00. The prizewinning and longlisted poems will all be included in an anthology entitled ‘What we Inherit from Water’\, to be published under the Yaffle’s Nest banner next year and launched on a date and at a venue tbc. \nTo enter the competition\, please pay the appropriate fee on PayPal. \nPlease include the reference: Yaffle Prize. \nEmail your submissions to \nyafflesnest@gmail.com \nPlease also include your name\, contact details \nand address in the body of the email. \nNo names should appear on the submitted document. \nPlease submit all poems on one document via a word/docx attachment. \n \n\n\nRULES\nOnly poems of 40 lines or less will be considered. \nThe poems may be in any style. \nWork deemed to be offensive will not be considered. \nAll entries must be the work of the poet submitting. \nPreviously published poems are not permitted. \nWe will not be accepting translations of poetry. \nNo changes can be made to poems once they have been submitted. \nAny entries in violation to the above will be disqualified. \nNo refunds will be given once work has been submitted. \nThe decision from our judges is final. \nNo correspondence regarding entries will be entered into. \n**As the poems are blind judged\, to keep anonymity\, \npoems which have been workshopped by the judge will be disqualified \nEntries can be made online via Pay Pal
