DESCRIPTION:Writers should send short stories and non-fiction of 2\,000-6\,000 words and/or up to three poems on the theme Coming of Age\, adhering to the guidelines below\, by the deadline of October 20\, 2024. \nWe’re looking for stories\, essays\, memoir and poetry on anything to do with the transition to adulthood: first love\, hormonal angst\, Saturday jobs\, brushes with the law\, experimentation\, gaining independence\, losing virginity. Literary reflections on books that made an impact during late adolescence would make particularly welcome essays. Please submit only one piece of prose and/or up to three poems per issue. \nPlease include a brief biography in your email\, noting any prior publishing experience\, and send work to submissions.shooterlitmag@gmail.com by October 20th. \nSimultaneous submissions are fine but please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Any non-fiction or journalistic work selected for publication will be fact-checked. All work must be previously unpublished either in print or online. \nSuccessful writers can expect to hear from us within a few weeks of the deadline\, if not before; all other submitters will be informed of the outcome within two months.

SUMMARY:PFN - Cordella Magazine Accepting Submissions for their 10th Anniversary Issue on the Theme of: Mother/Land
DESCRIPTION:We only accept work from women and nonbinary people. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNow accepting submissions for our 10th anniversary issue\, Mother/Land\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCordella Press seeks to record and share the creative voices of women-identified and nonbinary people from all walks of life\, exploring the ways that our spirit and sense of self is engaged with our physical place and daily experiences. Our purpose is to encourage one another to know ourselves more deeply\, to value the stories we have to tell\, and to connect with a sense of feminine wisdom and community that has nourished women throughout history. \nWe honor the diversity of spirituality\, and recognize that the edification of one’s spiritual life brings healing to our earth\, to our families and communities\, and to ourselves. We center marginalized voices and prioritize the work of BIPOC creatives. We seek to create a safe and welcoming space for survivors of sexual assault\, domestic violence\, and child abuse. We reserve the right to remove any work from Cordella Magazine if it comes to our attention that the author is an abuser. \nWe are particularly interested in work that relates to a sense of spiritual life\, ecology\, and community\, but we welcome submissions of all kinds that reflect one’s unique stories. We accept poetry\, short fiction\, essays\, memoir and other creative non-fiction\, as well as visual art. We also invite proposals for interviews and featured musicians. We accept work from women-identifying and nonbinary people. \nThemes and Submission Deadlines\nEach issue of Cordella has a broad theme. We encourage submissions that relate to the theme on some level\, but this is not a requirement for publication. Upcoming themes and deadlines are as follows: \nSubmission Process\nTo submit work to Cordella\, please send your documents to us through Submittable. Please do not email your submissions. Cordella is created by a small band of volunteers\, and unfortunately we are unable to respond personally to all incoming submissions. However\, if three months have passed without response\, feel free to check in with us on the status of your submission. Thanks for trusting us with your work\, and for your patience! \nPAYMENT\nAs we are an independent micro press\, and our site has never been monetized\, we unfortunately cannot offer payment to our contributors at this time. \nRights\nYou retain full rights to your work after publication. If published in an online issue or in Field Notes\, your work will remain on the Cordella website indefinitely. Cordella has the right to publish condensations and excerpts online indefinitely.

SUMMARY:PFN - Call for Submissions to Metonym Literary Journal on the Theme of Reflection
DESCRIPTION:Spring 2025 Issue Theme: Reflection \nThe sun’s rays bouncing off of the ripples of a lake\, recalling memories of childhood\, passing by a mirror. Whether it be abstract or literal\, internal or communal\, reflection allows us to return to an idea or a time with a new perspective. It permeates everything we experience\, allowing us to see purpose or meaning that was previously hidden to us at the time\, or makes clear the futility of that concept or moment. Reflection isn’t limited to one idea or image- it is where art begins. What have your reflections looked like? How has your perspective allowed you to reflect on your life or others? Metonym is seeking submissions of short fiction\, creative nonfiction and poetry that capture the theme of reflection in all of its nuance and diversity. \nSubmissions must be previously unpublished work. Simultaneous submissions will be considered as long as we are notified immediately if the piece is accepted elsewhere. Work that will be considered from an author includes: \n\n1-4 poems on the same submission\, each under two pages long\nFiction or creative non-fiction up to 1\,500 words\n\nThough your name will be attributed to your work when published\, Metonym editors review each piece as a blind submission. Please do not include any identifying information in your manuscript\, including within the file name or anywhere on the document. Works containing personal identifying information (including\, but not limited to: names\, phone numbers\, emails\, or physical addresses) will be disqualified.  \nWith the current surge of Artificial Intelligence being implemented in future technology\, Metonym does not accept works that are AI generated\, whether it be art or manuscript. We believe that the best work comes from original\, authentic pieces that speak from the artist themselves. Any submissions that are AI generated will result in disqualification. \nSubmissions close October 20th\, 2024 at 11:59pm\, PST \nOur current response time varies and will be longer if your work is under serious consideration\, but acceptance and rejection notifications will generally be sent out by the end of December each calendar year. Please be patient! We are a small\, hard-working staff and we want to give every piece the time it deserves. \nIf you are accepted\, we will send you a free copy of the finished journal in Spring.

SUMMARY:PFN - Call for Submssions to The FruitSlice: A Queer Quarterly on the Theme of: Rituals
DESCRIPTION:Submissions are restricted to LGBTQ+ creators. \n\n\n\n\nTHIS ISSUE’S THEME IS:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRituals \nIn a world where traditions often feel automatic—where we find ourselves asking\, Why do we do this?—there’s something powerful in reclaiming\, recreating\, and reimagining the meaning behind the rituals we choose to carry forward. \nSo much of what we do has become habitual\, disconnected from its origins. From the way we celebrate milestones to the ways we gather as a community\, rituals define and reinforce our identities. When we start asking why we do the things we do… sometimes the answers disturb us\, sometimes they connect us. But in the end\, rituals are how we give meaning to the everyday. \nAs a community\, we’ve been excluded from certain rituals. Why do we follow traditions that were never meant for us? \nWhat does it mean to embrace and subvert the rituals handed to us? How do we engage in these acts of Trans*formation? We believe that rituals have the power to both bind and liberate us. \nThis issue is an invitation to explore the rituals in your life and in our collective lives. What do we inherit\, and what do we build? Why do we kiss under the mistletoe and how can we infuse the everyday with our own kind of magic? \nWe are asking why we follow certain traditions and whether they still serve us. How can we create new rituals that affirm our truths rather than confining us to a heteronormative script? \nWe want to hear about the rituals that matter to you—whether they’re personal or communal\, practical or spiritual. What rituals do you live by\, reject\, or reimagine? \nWhat new rituals will you create\, and how will they shape the world we live in? \nSubmission Guidelines\nSubmission Fee: There is no fee to submit. \nPayment: At this time\, we cannot offer payment for published work. \nPreferred Format: \n\n\nFile Naming: Name your file in this format: LastNameFirstName_PieceTitle. \n\n\nDocument Format: At the top of your document\, include a word count\, genre description\, and any relevant content warnings. Please note: We reserve the right to add content warnings to your work when published. \n\n\nWord Limit: We recommend keeping written pieces under 5 pages or under 1500 words. \nMultiple Submissions: There’s no limit to the number of pieces you can submit. However\, please submit one work per submission form. Each piece should be submitted separately to ensure it’s properly reviewed. \nMediums: We accept all printable mediums. If you’re unsure whether your piece fits\, feel free to submit\, and we’ll review it. We recommend becoming familiar with our tone and style by reading through our past issues\, available digitally for free\, and checking out our FAQ for more details on what we’re looking for.
