SUMMARY:PFN - Call for Submissions to The Muleskinner Journal Thirteen. Theme: empty:FULL
DESCRIPTION:Journal Thirteen\nSubmissions are Open until March 15\nHere we go\, 2025\nHow’s your glass?\nOur theme for Journal Thirteen is \nempty : FULL\nYup. \nHere in the new world\, we are boom and bust…fixed and broken…cycling endlessly…spiraling up or down.\nWe are trapped by the present moment…freed by the present moment…having and having not…watching our bank account…safeguarding our emotional stockpiles…consuming in the bipolar economy…halfway home and managing the gas gauge…shielding our eyes from the stark contrast…squinting at the subtle difference…zigzagging toward the light…we… \nare empty becoming FULL and FULL becoming empty. \nIf enlightenment is the wave realizing it is the ocean\, how do we account for the island of trash drifting in the Pacific? \nWe invite you to help us fill the emptiness of these thoughts by sending us your work\, and by reading the work we post. \n\n\n\nThis fuel goes into this tank until March 15. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we are looking for…\nMuleskinner Journal accepts previously unpublished work only. Please use the following word counts to select a category to submit. Submit in only one category. Send no more than one submission per issue. \n\n\nPoetry: Any length or form. SUMMARY:P - Maintenant: A Journal of Contemporary Dada Writing & Art Seeking Submissions about: Ethics Cleansing
DESCRIPTION:MAINTENANT 19 will feature DADA work on the theme of ETHICS CLEANSING.\nIn the face of right and wrong by the breed of weak or strong\, humanity has placed far too much emphasis on belongings\, not belonging. \nThere was a time when ethical behavior had a fixity of purpose: the prevention of corruption\, favoritism\, undue influence and abuse of entrusted power. \nYet it is those who commit these transgressions that prosper most\, by completely dispensing with the need for ethics. \nWhat exists is a philosophy where the only guiding principle is to ensure the greatest profits. \nMAINTENANT 19 is a testament to the unflinching exposure of self-righteousness. We are no longer bred to be rational creatures. Denial is key. Freedom from blame is the promise. But if blame we must\, then here we must first blame the face in the mirror that accepts this way of life. \nThese times of Ethics Cleansing enable some to think they are better than others\, but if someone must be better\, then let it be ourselves. \nPlease use a separate submission form for each piece. \nIMPORTANT Specifications:\n\nYou may enter up to 4 pieces for consideration\, and all entries should center on the theme of ETHICS CLEANSING.\nAll text files must be save as WORD documents (please do NOT send PDFs). Each entry should have its own separate Word document and separate submission form.

SUMMARY:PFN - Call for Submissions to Gulf Stream Magazine. Theme: Last Words
DESCRIPTION:This year\, we wanted to bookend our Fall issue with the Spring issue. And so\, after Issue 35: First Words\, comes Issue 36: Last Words. We want you to send us your writing that has all the charge and desperation and absolute importance of the last words you’ll ever write. We want the last words between lovers\, the utterances that eek out of the cracks of a broken heart or perhaps the lines that break the heart of another. We want the last words before everything went sideways\, before everything ended and perhaps began anew in that ending. What are the words you would share with us if they were the only things we’d remember you by? How do your characters want to be remembered? What is the secret you need us to know before you go or the truth that comes out\, that slips\, that last thing you wish we’d ever hear but can’t take back anymore now that it’s out? If you had one last thing to give us\, one last thing to say\, one last thing part of yourself that needed a voice before the silence\, what would it be? We want that. \nMore important than any theme\, we welcome all submissions as long as they’re honest and authentic – what we want most of all is your best work. Work must be original\, created without the use of AI\, and previously unpublished (with the exception of translations – see genre guidelines). \nWe acknowledge that literary spaces traditionally have centered the white\, heterosexual\, cisgender male experience at the expense of other voices. We want to break from that tradition and are therefore especially interested in reading work from those who are often marginalized in literary spaces\, including Black\, Brown\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC); all women\, including but not limited to\, trans and cis women; LGBTQIA+ people; agender\, gender non-conforming\, and nonbinary people; people with disabilities; and people who live at the intersections of identities. \nLimits \nFiction: 5\,000 words (or 3 pieces of up to 1\,000 words) \nCreative Nonfiction: 5\,000 words \nPoetry: 3 poems per submission \nHybrid: 5\,000 words (may include up to 5 images\, B&W only) \nTranslations: 3 poems or 5\,000 words of prose (must include original piece) \nBook Reviews: 500-750 words (books must have been published within the past year) \nHow to submit \nPlease submit your work through submittable. \nNo submissions through email or mail unless you have an invite to do so from the editors. (For example\, prisoners may request to do this.) \nInclude a bio of up to fifty words along with your cover letter. \nWe do our very best to respond within 6 months\, but due to the volume of submissions\, it can sometimes take longer. \nGuidelines \n-Reading fee of $3. (For a fee waiver\, reach out to the editors). \n-International submissions are welcomed\, but English only this year. \n-Multiple submissions are welcome at $3 per submission\, but please\, no more than one submission per genre at a time. \n-Simultaneous submissions are fine as long as you notify us if it’s accepted elsewhere.
