DESCRIPTION:Appetite for…\n\n\n\nWhat do you hunger for? \nIn this issue\, we want writing that devours. We’re talking about the kind of cravings that keep you up at night: for touch\, for power\, for memory\, for something you can’t name. Appetite isn’t just physical—it’s emotional\, existential\, maybe even dangerous. \nThis theme isn’t just about food\, though we welcome your feasts and rituals. It’s about the want that lingers\, the desire that warps\, the need that cannot be tamed. Characters who want too much. Or not enough. Narrators who deny themselves until they snap. \nWe’re interested in the thin line between indulgence and survival. Between love and addiction. \nWe dare you to get messy. \n  \n\nSubmissions\n\n\nBlood & Bourbon is here to showcase all things hard\, gritty\, and raw. That time you got in a bar fight\, that time you went to an S&M club\, that time you had an opinion that sparked a heated argument over a family dinner. We’re actively seeking submissions in the following categories: \n\nShort fiction or non-fiction\, 5000 words or fewer\nOpinion pieces or essays on any subjects\, 5000 words or fewer\nPoetry\, up to three pieces per submission\n\nWe accept simultaneous submissions and reprints. We provide author copies upon request with a small donation of $5. \nWe are now open for submissions until August 2\, 2025. The theme of the next issue is Appetite. \nWe’re interested in diverse voices and want to hear from you regardless of what you look like\, where you’re from\, what you believe\, who you like to fuck\, et cetera. \nSend your material to bandbsubmissions (AT) gmail.com. Your submission should be attached as a .doc\, .docx or .rtf file\, with your name\, address\, email address\, the story title (if applicable) and total word count at the top of the first page. Visual art submissions should be attached as hi-res .jpgs or .tiffs. Include a 50-word bio in the body of the email or in the Word doc.
