DESCRIPTION:THEMED CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS\nDisunion: a state of\ncream city review calls for rupture. For the Spring/Summer (50.1) issue\, we want fiction that wrestles with the theme of Disunion: a state of\, where form follows the fault lines of separation and traces the fractures of our current terrain. We are drawn to pieces that unravel the shifting self\, its relationships\, and its upheavals. \nDisunion is absence and aftermath\, breakage and becoming. We welcome interrogations of dismantling and what emerges in its wake. Show us the ache of severance\, pains of distance\, and the clarity of exile. How\, in its unraveling\, might disunion reveal new possibilities and perhaps\, an unexpected union. \n\nNumber of pieces: Please send one story at a time.\nWe love writing that is sharp\, cutting\, juicy\, specific.\nNumber of pages per piece: Manuscripts should be no longer than 20 double-spaced pages. Please use Times New Roman font.\nWe welcome flash fiction pieces (two pieces\, up to 600 words each).\nFormat: .doc\, .docx or PDF.\nFrom the editors:  What makes a story memorable? We want lingering\, emotional stories that rattle our rib cages long past the last line. We want stories that are sticky in our brains for their excellent imagery choices and their smart constructions. We are always in search of stories that bypass obvious shock tactics—graphic violence\, in particular—and instead surprise the reader with their insight\, their generosity of spirit\, and their bravery of expression. And what makes a story energetic? We’re looking for fiction that’s tightly written and well-crafted. We love stories that know exactly why they’re making the decisions they make in form and experimentation\, instead of stories that strive for oddness as an end goal. The way you tell the story should be best and only way to tell that story.
