Home is how we find comfort and respite whenever we feel lost. What is home to you? Is it a place\, a person\, a feeling\, a flavor\, a scent\, a song? Each of us encompasses a unique definition. Whether it’s the refuge of a childhood room\, an emotional attachment to a physical item\, or a memory; home is anything we cherish in our hearts. \nStatement is proud to present its 76th year as a home of inspiration for new and accomplished artists from around the world. Share your best work and vision of “Home” with us! \nStatement welcomes poetry\, short stories\, essays\, translation\, or something entirely your own. \nSend your submissions to: Statementmagazine1950@gmail.com \nStatement’s 2025-26 issue will address theme of “Home”. We welcome literary and visual art including\, but not limited to\, fiction\, creative nonfiction\, poetry\, translation\, and visual art. Submit your best work! \n  \nHow to Submit Work to Statement:  \nPlease include the type of submission in the title (ex: Poetry Submission).  \n\nWhat Can You Submit?  \n• Written submissions should be a maximum of 1500 words and may be full pieces or excerpts of longer works that can stand alone.  \n• There is a limit of four (4) total submissions per individual. Submitters are not limited to working in only one medium and/or genre.  \n• We ask that no previously published or simultaneous submissions be submitted.  \n\nWhat You Should Include for Literary Submissions:  \nAll persons wishing to submit work are welcomed.  \nCover Sheet (required): A single .doc or .docx file with your name\, CIN number (for current Cal State LA students)\, email address\, the title(s) of your submission(s)\, and a short biography (max. of 75 words). This is the only place where your name should appear.  \nPrepare Your Submission:  \n• File name must be formatted with the Title of Work. (ex. TheLoveStory.doc)  \n• Written work must be in .doc or .docx format. Include a .pdf file of the work as well.  \n• Only the title of the piece and a word count should be included on the first page.  \n• Each writing submission must be submitted in a separate file.  \n• We are employing a blind submission process; DO NOT INCLUDE any headers or footers with information that identifies you such as your name\, identification number\, or your email address inside the submission file. (ex. Smith1\, or jsmith@gmail)  \n\nFinal Notes  \n• Submissions that do not follow guidelines will not be considered.  \n• Accepted material will be acknowledged by email notification.  \n• If you have any questions\, please contact us at Statementmagazine1950@gmail.com
