DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Flash Fiction Competition by Flash 500! When it comes to prizes\, it often seems as though flash fiction is the poor relation of writing competitions. DESCRIPTION:Center of Gravity\nJustice is the center of gravity and resistance is how we get there. \nWhile the fight for social justice\, reproductive rights\, and the environment has been an ongoing struggle\, the present moment demands an even more urgent response to these grievous times. As James Baldwin reminds us\, “the role of the artist…is to illuminate that darkness [and] to make the world a more human dwelling place.” In this light\, we invite submissions of poetry and prose that explore the possibilities of resistance and collective democratic worldbuilding\, envisioning worlds in which achieving justice is a reality. \nWe are particularly interested in submissions that engage with the various centers of gravity concerning voting\, reproductive rights\, and trans rights\, making black lives matter\, healthcare\, inequality\, and their intersections with the environment and autonomy. DESCRIPTION:The Krazines  welcome submissions of prose and poetry for publication in its full-color\, monthly zine\, Moss Piglet.  Anyone of any age or talent level may contribute work (but please\, no politics.)  Each issue has a theme in place to jumpstart your imagination.  You may interpret these themes widely.\n\n\n\n\nOur theme is Winter Wonderland or Winter of My Discontent  Let your imagination be your guide in interpreting this theme. At the first sight of frost\, do you sing\, “Let It Snow\, Let It Snow!” or do you mutter\, “Bah\, Humbug!” Perhaps you live in a climate where you put Christmas ornaments on the cacti or you live in the Southern Hemisphere where winter arrives in the middle of the year. Perhaps\, this month’s theme causes you to recall winters of long ago and the people and the places you knew back then. Or this theme causes you to recite lines from Shakespeare’s Richard III or from John Steinbeck’s final novel\, Winter of Our Discontent. However you may interpret this theme\, send us your creative contribution by or before our deadline. \nSubmissions of Stories\, Essays & Poems\n\nPlease send text submissions in .doc\, .docx or PDF formats to info@krazines.com.  We are more apt to accept short works\, as our publication is digest-size\, but we don’t have a word limit.  Check out some of our past issues to get an idea on the style and length of written work that we have published. \nYou may provide multiple submissions\, but don’t go crazy. Someone has to read all of the stuff that comes across our desk. We’re OK with simultaneous submissions and previously published work. Just cite the place where your writing previously appeared. DESCRIPTION:There is no entry fee for BIWOC poets. \nPerugia Press Prize\nTHE WINNER OF THE PERUGIA PRESS PRIZE RECEIVES:\n\nBook publication and a $1\,000 prize\nTen author copies and an ongoing discount of 50% off of the cover price for additional copies\nTime to work with the editor to create a book she loves with input into book editing\, design & promotion\nMentoring from the Perugia Poet Liaison during the publication and promotion of her book\nReview copies and entry copies to a range of post-publication contests\, provided and sent by the Press\nSome book launch events planned by the Press\, with a partial travel stipend and reading honorariums provided\nOngoing publicity support through our website\, newsletter\, and social media\nExposure through Press attendance at local and national book fairs to promote the work of Perugia poets\n\n\nELIGIBILITY\n\nPoets must be women\, which is inclusive of transgender women and female-identified individuals. Because gender inequity still occurs in publishing\, it is part of our explicit feminist mission to support and promote women’s voices in print.\nPerugia Press seeks to highlight marginalized and underrepresented voices in our publications\, and to that end we encourage submissions written by poets of all abilities\, ages\, and sexual orientations\, and from across all cultural\, socio-economic\, ethnic\, racial\, and religious backgrounds.\nPoets must have no more than one previously published full-length book. You are still eligible if you have published a poetry chapbook/s or books in other genres. You are still eligible if you have published more than one full-length poetry collection in a language other than English.\nPerugia Press welcomes diversity of expression in content\, form\, and language. We are open to considering hybrid manuscripts\, including those incorporating visuals or created in collaboration.\nIndividual poems may have been published previously in magazines\, journals\, anthologies\, and chapbooks\, but the collection as a whole must be unpublished.\nTranslations of the work of others and previously self-published books are not eligible.\nSubmissions from poets living outside the U.S. are not eligible\, though international submissions from poets based in the U.S. but away during our contest period are fine.
