We do not define or gatekeep what it means to be a queer writer: if you think your work belongs here\, then it belongs here. To get a sense of what we publish please read some of our former issues. We don’t know what we like until we see it. Each month we announce a different theme\, but don’t worry if the work you submit doesn’t quite fit: we often build issues and themes around work that takes us by surprise. \nSimultaneous submissions are encouraged; we ask that you notify us if your work is accepted elsewhere. Written submissions are limited to 650 words. Please leave your name off of the submission itself and send one piece per submission\, in PDF format. We do not charge a submission fee or a subscription fee; we offer all published artists a $25 honorarium as compensation.* \nOur theme this month is Splinter. SUMMARY:PN - Chicken Soup for the Soul Series Seeking: Dog Stories
DESCRIPTION:Dog Stories \nWe are thrilled to announce that we are now accepting stories for our dog topic that is to be released in 2025. Because of the popularity of this topic\, we do a new dog book approximately every eighteen months so here is another chance for you to share a story or two about the member of your family who just happens to walk on four feet! \nDogs have always been considered companions and playmates that brighten our days and enrich our lives. What would we do without them? They are also wonderful and amazing teachers. The lessons we learn from our canine friends come in all shapes and sizes\, just like they do. Tell us the new thing your canine friend has taught you. How smart she is or how she outsmarted you! How he made you smile. How she “rescued” you after you “rescued” her. How he brought your family closer together\, helped you find love\, inspired you to change something in your human life. Stories can be serious or humorous\, or both. We can’t wait to read all the heartwarming\, inspirational\, and hysterical stories you have about your dogs. \n***Please note: If you submitted a story or poem for a previous dog book and we DID NOT publish it\, here is your chance to submit it to us again. If you submitted a story and we DID publish it in a previous dog book\, please do not submit it. We will not publish it again. \nHere are a few ideas but we know you will come up with more on your own: \n– How does your dog improve your life?\n– How does your dog warm your heart and make you smile?\n– How did your dog show kindness to a human or another animal?\n– How did your dog teach you to put things in perspective and not take yourself so seriously?\n– How did your dog teach you to forgive and move on?\n– How did your dog teach you to live in the present\, and BE present?\n– The crazy things your dog does\n– The crazy things you do for your dog\n– Has your dog demonstrated a surprising degree of empathy or comprehension of a situation?\n– How did your dog teach you about kindness?\n– Does your dog act a certain way with one family member and a different way with another?\n– Did your dog get lost and\, by some unexplainable miracle\, return home?\n– Has your dog ever done something extremely embarrassing?\n– How did your dog teach you about humor?\n– Did you train him\, or did he train you?\n– Who rescued who?\n– Learning about loyalty and unconditional love\n– My dog seems almost human and can understand the things I’m saying or feeling\n– Does she talk back to you?\n– How my dog picked me\n– How my therapy dog has made a difference\n– How my dog changed my family\n– Your work at a shelter or rescue organization and have great stories from there \nRecipe for a Winning Chicken Soup for the Soul Submission\nA Chicken Soup for the Soul story is an inspirational\, true story about ordinary people having extraordinary experiences. It is a story that opens the heart and rekindles the spirit. It is a simple piece that touches our readers and helps them discover basic principles they can use in their own lives. These stories are personal and often filled with emotion and drama. They are filled with vivid images created by using the five senses. In some stories\, the readers feel that they are actually in the scene with the people. \nChicken Soup for the Soul stories are written in the first person and have a beginning\, middle and an end. The stories often close with a punch\, creating emotion\, rather than simply talking about it. Chicken Soup for the Soul stories have heart\, but also something extra—an element that makes us all feel more hopeful\, more connected\, more thankful\, more passionate and better about life in general. A good story causes tears\, laughter\, goose bumps or any combination of these. \nThe most powerful stories are about people extending themselves\, or performing an act of love\, service or courage for another person. \nGuidelines for a Chicken Soup for the Soul story\n\nTell an exciting\, heartwarming or funny story about something that has happened to you or someone you know. Your story should be written in the first person and should be about yourself or someone close to you.\nTell your story in a way that will make the reader cry\, laugh\, get goose bumps or say “Wow!”\nThe story should start “in the action” and draw in the reader. Do not start your story with an introduction about what you are going to say\, or end with a concluding paragraph about what you just said.\nDon’t be afraid to speak from the heart. Many people tell personal stories for the first time in our books\, and they find it to be a cathartic and productive experience. We do let you use a pen name for your story if you do not want to use your real name.\nDon’t try fancy moves with tenses. Writing in the present tense about something that happened in the past rarely works.\nKeep your story to 1200 words or less. Tighten\, tighten\, tighten!\nYour story must be true. No fiction\, no creative writing.\n\nWhat a Chicken Soup for the Soul story IS NOT:\n\nA sermon\, an essay or eulogy.\nAn “as told to” story written by you for someone else. If you ghost-write a story for someone\, we thank you for helping that person share his or her story. That person’s name will be listed as the author and he or she can acknowledge your help in the bio section.\nA term paper\, thesis\, letter or journal entry.\nAbout politics or controversial issues.\nA biography or testimonial.\nA journalistic article about a third party that reads like a newspaper article.\n\nGuidelines for a Chicken Soup for the Soul poem\n\nWe love poems that tell a story. A Chicken Soup for the Soul poem does the same job as a story. The reader goes away having learned your story\, just through poetry instead of prose.\nWe do not publish poems that do not tell a story.\nWe also do not publish poems that seem overly focused on rhyming and read more like greeting cards.

SUMMARY:F - Call for Submissions to Toad Shade Zine. Theme: Black and White
DESCRIPTION:The theme is Black and White. I’ve made a picture\, too. Apply it how you want. Do you have a character who doesn’t believe in nuance? Have all the colors been arrested and imprisoned? Make up a story\, apply your interpretation\, and send it in. \nThe winning story will get $50 again. Four more stories will be selected\, $20 each this time. \nAgain\, I know this isn’t a ton of money\, but I’m still not rich. \nSomeone just asked about poetry. Send in a poem if you like\, totally fine by me. \nLast time\, I had to force my co-workers to read the stories after they all said\, “Oh yeah\, that sounds like so much fun!” when I originally asked them if they wanted to judge the stories. It did turn out to be a lot of fun in the end. It was so much fun\, in fact\, that I’m getting a whole new batch of judges this time. Same setup as before\, maybe we’re not qualified\, but I’ve never let that stop me. The reading will be blind and fair. It didn’t matter last time\, but let’s cap the stories at 2\,000 words. No minimum. We’ll close early if we get 150 submissions\, but that seems unlikely. \nNo reprints\, please. Simultaneous submissions are ok\, and the zine will only be in print form\, so I don’t know if you count anything in it as ‘published’. Also\, I’m not asking for exclusive rights\, just the rights to include it in the zine. If you want to make my life a little easier\, remove your name from your submission ahead of time. The judging will be blind and if you can’t or won’t take your name off your submission\, I can do it. It’s not grounds for disqualification\, just an extra step. \nI don’t feel like anyone should have to say it\, but don’t send in anything written by\, or with the assistance of\, AI like ChatGPT\, Gemini\, or whatever else is out there. What’s the point? Wouldn’t it be a lot cooler if AI did your laundry anyway? Write your own story\, please.

SUMMARY:PFN - Rowayat: A Literary Journal is Open for Submissions for Issue #10 on the Theme of Borders
DESCRIPTION:Issue 10 of Rowayat explores “borders” in all their forms: from the physical\, heavily guarded borders that divide the earth\, to the intangible but equally real psychological\, cultural\, and socio-economic borders that delineate our interior and exterior worlds. We’re looking for immediate\, fresh writing that reflects your deepest experiences of borders and how they affect your view of the world. We seek well-crafted poems\, prose and nonfiction that attempt to reappropriate the hardest borders\, be they cultural\, linguistic\, or bureaucratic in nature.\nWriters may submit poems or prose responding directly to the issue’s BORDERS theme as a whole. \nOur review process is semi-anonymous (our readers do not know the names of submitters\, and then they pass all submissions to the genre editors. SUMMARY:P - Leonard Cohen Poetry Prize. Theme: Love\, Faith\, & Sex
DESCRIPTION:Leonard Cohen Poetry Prize — $2000 Awarded\n\n\n\nEnds on Thu\, Nov 7\, 2024 11:59 PM \n\n\n\nThe reading period for the Leonard Cohen Poetry Prize runs from September 21 to November 7 (LC’s birth anniversary to death anniversary).\n$1000 will be awarded to a poem that explores the intersection of love\, faith & sex. Four finalists will each be awarded $250.\n\nABOUT THE PRIZE\nPoet\, novelist\, singer/songwriter\, artist\, music producer\, Buddhist monk\, Leonard Cohen has won countless hearts. \nI found his music six years ago and haven’t listened to much else since. Now every morning when I drop my daughter off to preschool\, she and I sing along to “Suzanne” on the way. Having spent countless hours with the Leonard Cohen Archive at the University of Toronto\, I’m in awe of the devotion he had for his craft\, blackening page after page. \nHis ability to blend the sacred and the profane\, the spiritual and the sensual remains unmatched. We are indebted to him for bridging the world of literature with the world of music. \nA couple of times in concerts\, he sang this two-liner: “no\, it wasn’t any good\, there’s no reason why you should remember me” while having given us a million reasons to remember him. \nWe hope this will push people who are aware of Cohen’s genius as a musician to turn to his poetry. It gives us deep honor to name this prize after the one and only Leonard Cohen and carry a part of his infinite legacy on our slim shoulders. \nAs Leonard would say\, forgive the poverty of these words for they do not reflect the abundance of our gratitude. \n— Karan Kapoor\, Editor-in-Chief\, ONLY POEMS \n  \nSUBMISSION GUIDELINES\n\nSend us up to 3 pages of poetry. \nEach poem starts on a new page. \nIn the spirit of Leonard Cohen\, we ask that your poems deal in some way with the intersections of Love\, Faith\, & Sex. \nWe only accept previously uncurated work. \nWe love cover letters and would prefer knowing whose work we are reading. You are welcome to share your love for Leonard Cohen\, your publication history\, if any\, though that would not influence our decision. Please make sure that the document of your poems is stripped of any biographical information—use the cover letter field on Submittable for this. \nPlease withdraw your poems if they get accepted elsewhere. \nWe will respond to everyone by the end of this year. Winners will be announced and published in January. \nThere will be no deadline extensions. \nYour submission comes with an exclusive 33% discount off any of the annual ONLY POEMS membership tiers ($33-$82 value). \n\nPLEASE NOTE:\nThe Leonard Cohen Family Trust does not endorse this award\, ONLY POEMS\, or the prize winners. It is for their generosity we are allowed to name this prize after Leonard Cohen\, the Poet Laureate of the World.

SUMMARY:PN -Tiny Spoon: a bite-size experimental literary magazine Seeking Submissions about: Superstition/Divination
DESCRIPTION:Submissions are now open for Issue 13: Superstition / Divination until November 30!\n\nHere we are – Issue 13. For this\, we chose a theme that embraces all that the number thirteen can mean. Specifically\, we call upon Superstition / Divination as our official theme\, to conjure all the ways that 13 toys with our relation to reality as a number of numeric dualities. It appears as a luck charm or a cursed omen depending on context. \nWe avoid the number 13 on elevators\, we feel a chill on a Friday the 13th; something just a little ominous looms – the potential for a correlation. The superstition adhered to the number 13 follows us\, whether or not we fully believe in its unlucky aura\, is it worth it to chance it? But what if…? \nOr\, is 13 misunderstood? As it represents karma\, tests of life\, and spirituality… in grappling with the abstract\, we seek something tangible. \nDivination is about correlation; how wisdom arises from pairing and juxtaposition. We peer into relationality and conjure meaning. The cosmos aids in this understanding\, letting pieces fall into alignment\, be it chaotic or planned. What follows the laws of nature and what refuses to? How do we read logic from the randomness of the universe? How does it speak to us through relationality? \nMoreover\, how are the ways that Superstition / Divination lean into the space of seeking understanding through the unknown; what about correlation across seemingly unconnected events? We look unto the expanse of divination\, the ancient divinatory spirit of our ancestors that pulled upon common chords of humanity and shared superstition journeys through time that reveled in communal beliefs. We embrace the historical nature of superstitions and divination as a tool to support communities in need. \nFor Issue 13\, we want your Superstition / Divination. What ways do you hold onto beliefs that guide your actions? How do you divine meaning from the world? Are superstition / divination two elements of the same essence? \nShow us your process\, your revelations. Share a spread or write into the correlation of cards or objects. Write into faith and belief that guides or binds you. We are here anticipating your revelations of the universe. How is it speaking to you? Scaring you? Lend us your divining wisdom. \n\nWhat We Look For:\nHere at Tiny Spoon\, we are especially interested in experimental work\, although not exclusively. If you’ve had trouble finding a home for your work because it doesn’t fit into generally recognized categories\, chances are your home is right here with us. \nWe seek work that pushes the boundaries of conventional genres; work that is daring\, experimental\, innovative\, quirky\, thoughtful\, vulnerable\, electric\, eccentric. In other words\, your inner workings expanded and exposed\, raw and immediate; your fragile soul parted at the seams into our bound paper glossary of tiny wonder. Your voice is beautiful\, edgy\, infinite\, and unique\, and we want to raise it. \n\nPlease take a moment to review our guidelines before submitting. \nWe look forward to reading your work! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUBMIT\n\n\nPlease submit through our official form. Only those submitted here within the open call for submissions will be considered. \n\n\n\nGuidelines:\n\nFormat text: sent as .doc\, .docx\, .rtf\, or .pdf\nArt: .jpeg or .tif\nPlease label the file “Last Name_Title of Work”\nLength per piece: 1\,000 words max\nFont: 12 pt Garamond or a similar font\nUp to three pieces per submission. Any additional work after the first three will not be reviewed. Please refrain from inserting text submissions directly into the body of the email.\nPlease limit to one submission per issue.\nSimultaneous submissions allowed. Please let us know if it is published elsewhere.\nSubmissions are free!\nPlease provide a one sentence bio about yourself.\nCover letters are not required\, but you may send one if you’d like. We won’t show preference based on this.\nYou will maintain the rights to your work; if it is published elsewhere or in a collection\, we simply ask that you give us credit for first publication.\nSubmitted work will be considered for our print and/or online blog\, which allows us to accept more submissions since print space is limited.\n\n\n\n\nUpon submitting to Tiny Spoon\, we will add you to our monthly newsletter to be sure you are updated on all the latest information regarding submission calls and reading processes so you are always aware of the status of your work. Generally\, it takes us 3-6 months to read through our submissions. Please use the newsletter and social media to gauge where we might be in the process in lieu of individual emails–we will always let you know as soon as we have made our final decisions! \n\nContributor Compensation\nFor our contributors in the United States\, we send a complimentary copy of the issue in which they appear. \nIf outside of the US\, due to budgeting costs\, instead of a physical copy\, we provide a digital/printable version of the magazine.

SUMMARY:F - Call for Submissions to Crab Creek Review. Theme: Embodied Lives
DESCRIPTION:For this fiction call “Embodied Lives\,”  we’re looking for stories of up to 3\,000 words that explore embodiment in all its complexity. How does the body—in its desire and strengths\, its fragilities and limits\, its autonomy and its subjugation to the larger systems of power that dominate our lives—shape who we are\, how we see ourselves and others\, and how we exist in relationship? How are mind and body in opposition to one another\, and how are they one? And what does it mean to be embodied when our bodies are—by choice or by force—rendered separate from our minds and wills and wants\, not fully our own?\nWe look forward to reading your authentic\, narratively engaging\, and well-crafted fiction on embodied life. \nGeneral Submissions \n\nThe reading period is open from September 15 through November 15\, or when our 300 Submittable Cap is hit.  The editors seek original\, unpublished poetry\, fiction and creative nonfiction via Submittable. We welcome your best work\, and have no restrictions on form or content\, except that we will not consider work that is defamatory\, discriminatory\, or that promotes hatred. 12pt standard font. One batch of submissions per reading period. Revisions may be made upon acceptance; please do not withdraw and resubmit your work due to revisions concerns. \nCreative Nonfiction\nSend one piece up to 1\,500 words per submission period. We’re looking for well-crafted essays that exhibit depth and nuance\, a clear voice\, personal reflection\, and vivid scenes. Experimental\, lyric\, and non-traditional forms are encouraged. We do not publish literary criticism\, scholarly articles\, or reportage. Revisions may be made upon acceptance; do not withdraw and resubmit your work due to revision concerns.\n\nThemed Fiction—Embodied Lives\n“Literature does its best to maintain that its concern is with the mind; that the body is a sheet of plain glass through which the soul looks straight and clear\, and\, save for one or two passions such as desire and greed\, is null\, and negligible and non-existent.” (Virginia Woolf\, “On Being Ill”) \n“All I ever really want to know is how other people are making it through life—where do they put their body\, hour by hour\, and how do they cope inside of it.” (Miranda July\, It Chooses You) \nAs both Woolf and July suggest\, literature has long dismissed the body as little more than the vehicle for thought—a landscape the creative and critical self must cross (or maybe endure) in order to do the real work and to live the most meaningful life: a life of the mind. This relationship is a false binary\, though\, and progressively we understand (socially\, politically\, scientifically\, and even artistically) that mind and body are intricately in connection. \nFor this fiction call\, we’re looking for stories of up to 3\,000 words that explore embodiment in all its complexity. And what does it mean to be embodied when our bodies are—by choice or by force—rendered separate from our minds and wills and wants\, not fully our own? \nWe look forward to reading your authentic\, narratively engaging\, and well-crafted fiction on embodied life.

SUMMARY:PFN - Call for Submissions to Cagibi Journal. Theme: Entanglement
DESCRIPTION:We’re currently accepting poetry\, fiction\, nonfiction\, and translation submissions on the theme of Entanglement for Issue 24. In quantum physics\, entanglement is described as “a bizarre\, counterintuitive phenomenon” in which “two subatomic particles can be intimately linked to each other even if separated by billions of light-years of space…a change induced in one will affect the other.” Entangled particles\, on the quantum level\, are not therefore separate but parts of a whole; to know one is to know the other. On a macro\, human level\, we can become similarly entangled\, caught in complex\, intense dynamics nearly impossible to escape. As a heightened form of attachment\, romantic or otherwise\, entanglement blurs the boundary between “where I end and you begin” (to borrow from Radiohead). \nFor Issue 24\, we want you to play with and explore the multifaceted nature of entanglement on the macro\, micro\, and yes\, quantum level. Show us your quagmires\, confusions\, and fated connections. Weave us tangled webs and puzzling paradoxes. Tie your characters into knots. We are here for it. \nGUIDELINES \n\nWe welcome works in translation. Also\, we welcome submissions from outside the United States.\nTO WITHDRAW\, IN WHOLE OR IN PART: For help on how to withdraw a partial of your submission\, or the whole submission\, see our Submission Guidelines page.\nSimultaneous submissions are accepted as long as you notify us immediately should your piece be accepted elsewhere.\nPreviously unpublished work only. Cagibi does not consider work that has previously appeared in print or online.\n\nSee below for additional Prose and Poetry guidelines. \nPROSE GUIDELINES \n\nIn fiction\, the editors welcome short stories\, flash fiction or short-shorts\, and lengthier stories. There is no word count limit; use your best judgment. For flash fiction\, up to 3 flash pieces under 1000 words each.\nIn nonfiction\, Cagibi is literary in focus\, which includes personal narrative essays; but to be clear\, we do not consider academic papers that are limited to a particular audience or that are footnoted/in-text referenced.\n\nPOETRY GUIDELINES \n\nYou may submit up to 3 poems at once\, depending on the length; use your best judgment.\nPlace your poems in one document.\nIf your poem is a book-length epic\, then you should think about excerpting.

SUMMARY:FN - Oyster River Pages Seeking Submissions on the Theme: Aperture
DESCRIPTION:For this special issue\, we’re looking for works of short\, flash\, or micro-fiction and creative nonfiction on the theme of “aperture.” In photography\, the aperture is the space through which light enters the camera. In architecture\, apertures are commonly windows or doors: points of access or boundary between the interior and exterior spaces. An aperture can be a point of connection\, or control. It can be an opening\, a gap\, a portal\, or chasm. An aperture can be a wound. A point of entry\, or of no return. In fiction\, we’re looking for braided flash or micro snapshots\, surrealist\, realist\, magically realist\, speculative\, or even auto-fiction; fiction encountering the aperture of the void\, fiction exploring grief\, or borders\, or time travel\, or birth. Fiction examining the artist\, the photographer\, the painter. In creative nonfiction\, we’re looking for lyric essays as snapshots\, or memoirs as explorations of experience oriented around a single entry point. We’re looking for hybrid works\, works of ekphrasis\, essays\, and more. Wildly creative interpretations of the theme of “aperture” are welcome\, as are the explicitly literal – send us your discoveries\, musings\, glimpses\, and memories as stories. Please ensure work is submitted in a legible\, serif font (think Times New Roman or Garamond). We’re not too fussed about size or spacing. Please nothing longer than 3500 words. If sending flash\, please send no more than 3 pieces of up to 1000 words each\, and micros of no more than 10 pieces of 100 words each. Accepted authors can expect to engage in a brief editorial process – we hope you will submit with a willingness to discuss recommended changes with the aim of enhancing your work for publication. \nWe are especially eager to publish pieces that engage with the work of marginalized and decentered people—Black and Brown creators\, LGBTQ+ creators\, and creators of all levels of dis/ability\, and to that end\, we invite creators to self-identify in their submissions. \nPlease note that Oyster River Pages will not publish any work that has been created\, in part or in full\, or in collaboration with generative artificial intelligence. Should we find that work published on our site has been created with the support of generative artificial intelligence\, we reserve the right to remove such work from our site and rescind publication.

DESCRIPTION:We are now accepting submissions for our Winter issue. While the theme and title of this issue is ‘Arc’ we encourage you to interpret it creatively. \nOur favourite poems are the unexpected kind. We love free verse poems that take familiar situations and turn them on their head\, using unusual metaphors and drawing parallels no one else would see. You can read our latest issue\, Bodies\, to get a sense of the poetry we publish. \nThe deadline for this issue has been extended to November 25th\, 2024. SUMMARY:PN - Chicken Soup for the Soul Series Seeking: Cat Stories
DESCRIPTION:Cat Stories \nThe deadline for submissions is NOVEMBER 30\, 2024. \nWe are thrilled to announce that we are now accepting stories for our cat topic book that is to be released in 2025. Because of the popularity of this topic\, we do a new cat book approximately every eighteen months so here is another chance for you to share a story or two about the member of your family who just happens to walk on four feet! \nCats have always been considered companions and playmates that brighten our days and enrich our lives. What would we do without them? They are also wonderful and amazing teachers. The lessons we learn from our feline friends come in all shapes and sizes\, just like they do. Tell us the new thing your feline friend has taught you. How smart she is or how she outsmarted you! How he made you smile. How she “rescued” you after you “rescued” her. How he brought your family closer together\, helped you find love\, inspired you to change something in your human life. How she rules the roost! Stories can be serious or humorous\, or both. We can’t wait to read all the heartwarming\, inspirational\, and hysterical stories you have about your cats. \n***Please note: If you submitted a story or poem for a previous cat book and we DID NOT publish it\, here is your chance to submit it to us again. If you submitted a story and we DID publish it in a previous cat book\, please do not submit it. We will not publish it again. \nHere are a few ideas but we know you will come up with more on your own: \n– How does your cat improve your life?\n– How does your cat warm your heart and make you smile?\n– How did your cat show kindness to a human or another animal?\n– How did your cat teach you to put things in perspective and not take yourself so seriously?\n– How did your cat teach you to forgive and move on?\n– How did your cat teach you to live in the present\, and BE present?\n– The crazy things your cat does\n– The crazy things you do for your cat\n– Has your cat demonstrated a surprising degree of empathy or comprehension of a situation?\n– How did your cat teach you about kindness?\n– Does your cat act a certain way with one family member and a different way with another?\n– Did your cat get lost and\, by some unexplainable miracle\, return home?\n– Has your cat ever done something extremely embarrassing?\n– How did your cat teach you about humor?\n– Did you train him\, or did he train you?\n– Who rescued who?\n– Learning about loyalty and unconditional love\n– My cat seems almost human and can understand the things I’m saying or feeling\n– Does she talk back to you?\n– How my cat picked me\n– How my therapy cat has made a difference\n– How my cat changed my family\n– Your work at a shelter or rescue organization and have great stories from there \nRecipe for a Winning Chicken Soup for the Soul Submission\nA Chicken Soup for the Soul story is an inspirational\, true story about ordinary people having extraordinary experiences.

SUMMARY:PFN - The Dock Seeking Submissions on: Sounds of Desire
DESCRIPTION:For issue 76\, please note that we’ll have cap of 500 for poetry and fiction and 400 for nonfiction submissions. We’ll also have 100 free submissions for underrepresented writers in each genre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpring 2025 Web Issue: On Desire\nInspired by Oscar Wilde’s evocative words\, “In this world there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what one wants\, and the other is getting it\,” we invite you to delve into the complex layers of desire where the pursuit and attainment of what we yearn for create their own distinct trials and moments of reckoning. We seek work exploring the journey of desire—how we reach for what lies beyond our grasp and what it means when we finally attain it. How does desire shape our lives and identities? What sacrifices are made along the way\, and what new truths emerge when desire is fulfilled? We invite you to share stories\, poems\, and essays that explore these questions\, capturing the tension between longing and fulfillment and examining what it means to find what we seek truly. \nWe welcome submissions of poetry\, fiction\, creative nonfiction\, and hybrid forms that engage with the theme of desire in innovative and thought-provoking ways. Whether through explorations of unfulfilled longing\, stories of hard-won fulfillment\, or reflections on the complexities of wanting\, we invite you to examine the profound impact of desire on our lives. We encourage works that push the boundaries of form and perspective\, revealing how desire shapes and reshapes our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. \nWe highly encourage submissions from BIPOC\, queer\, and disabled writers and visual artists\, as well as collaborative works. Share your unique voice and perspective on what it means to reach\, to want\, and to find. \n\n\nPoems: Submit up to 6 pages of poems in one document. Each poem should be on a separate page. Please provide the title for each poem in the order they are being submitted on your cover letter. \n\n\nProse (fiction/nonfiction/essay): Submit up to 10 pages\, double-spaced\, in one document. If submitting more than one piece\, please provide the title for each one in the order they are submitted on your cover letter. \n\n\nTranslation – An English translation must be provided alongside the original piece. Both the original and its translation will be published. If collaborating with a translator\, please include their bio in the cover letter. \n\n\nHybrid: Submit following the guidelines for the genre it most closely resembles/is in conversation with. \n\n\nPlease include a brief bio (150 words max) with your submission\, including social media handles and your website. Please only submit to one call for submissions at a time.

SUMMARY:PN - Tiny Spoon: a bite-size experimental literary magazine Seeking Submissions on: Superstition/Divination
