DESCRIPTION:Black Fox is accepting submissions for its ninth writing prize. The theme for this round is “Rhapsody of Regret.” We are open to loose interpretations of the theme in any genre\, as always. \nWhat lies underneath the weight of regret? \nSo often\, regrets are reminders of roads not taken\, words left unsaid\, and chances not taken. They echo in the deepest parts of our minds\, insisting on what might have been. Whether fiction\, creative nonfiction\, or poetry\, we’re looking for work that uncovers the multifaceted nature of regrets. What emotions\, lessons\, and transformations emerge in retrospect? \nPlease submit your strongest fiction\, nonfiction\, or poetry\, and we will choose one winner that we feel interprets the theme best. DESCRIPTION:SUBMISSION GUIDELINES\nWe especially welcome submissions of new work by writers from diverse backgrounds who have been traditionally under-represented in literature and publishing\, and actively encourage women\, writers of colour\, LGBTQ+\, Disabled\, D/deaf\, and low-income writers to consider sending us their work. \nWe welcome submissions of poetry and short fiction to Under the Radar magazine\, but please take note of the following guidelines and our open submissions dates. \n• Please only submit previously unpublished work. \n• Send up to six poems. \n• We accept submissions from anywhere in the world. \n• We do advise you familiarise yourself with the magazine first before sending your poems – you can buy a single issue or subscription here\, and your support helps to keep the magazine in print:Under the Radar magazine (ninearchespress.com) \n• All submissions must be made online through our Submittable portal during our open submission dates (see opposite). We are inspired by poet Marianne Moore: “I am governed by the pull of the sentence as the pull of fabric is governed by gravity.” \nIdeas we would love to see explored include: \n\nShare the gravity of a moment\, however brief\, but heavy with meaning and shape in your life.\n\n\nHave you ever dreamed of flying? Where would you fly if you woke up weightless one day?\n\n\nIs it impossible/possible for us to escape the gravity of our species? Our profound effects on each other\, and the planet?\n\n\nHow do words hold gravity over you? Which words or phrases hold\, or have held\, the most power over you?\n\n\nHow do you escape the gravity of loss in your own life? What frees you\, if only for awhile?\n\n\nHow can we transcend the gravity of emotion binding heart\, mind\, and body?\n\n  \nSubmission Guidelines: \nWe accept fiction\, nonfiction\, and poetry of all flavors\, from free verse to found. \nAll texts should use 12-point New Roman font and be double spaced. Poetry may be single spaced. Text file attachments may be submitted in .doc\, .docx\, or .rtf. \n\nFiction and Nonfiction: Entries should not exceed ten pages in length.
