We also consider extraordinarily good poems that are incompatible with our themes (general submissions). \nWhat We Pay:  We pay a semi-professional rate of seven dollars per poem. \nHOW TO SUBMIT \nFailure to follow these simple guidelines will result in your submission being discarded or returned to you unread! \n\nPlease resist the urge to include anything with your submission that we do not specifically request\, especially your bio (we like to read as blindly as possible)\, credits (we treat the novice and the experienced equally)\, or explanatory notes (if you believe your poem requires an explanation\, please revise it until it doesn’t).\n\n\nSubmit up to THREE poems to:  \n\nSubmissions@SongsOfEretz.com \nThere is no fee to submit. \n\n Your Subject Lineshould be formatted as follows:  [Poetry Submission][Title][Oiet’s Last Name]\n If you are submitting more than one poem\, each should appear in a separate email\, and each email should include a separate cover letter.  If your poem has multiple numbered sections\, each section will “count” as ONE poem.  If your poem contains more than three sections\, query first.\nYour poem(s) must appear in the body of your email(s).  WE DO NOT ACCEPT ATTACHMENTS FOR POETRY.  If your poem needs to be presented in an attachment due to special formatting\, query first.\nInclude a cover letter in the body of your email(s) with answers to the following questions\n\n(and remember NOT to include a biography at this process stage): \n– Is yours a simultaneous submission or not?  We DO accept them. \n– How did you discover Songs of Eretz? \n– How would you like us to indicate your name if we publish your work (ie: your byline\, for example\, “By Sammie Smith”)?  NOTE:  We do NOT accept work composed by a collaboration of poets or artists. \n– What is your contact information?  Include at least your city & state.  Include your country if you reside outside of the United States.  It is strongly recommended that you include your phone number as well\, in case we need last-minute input from you (this has happened). \n– Would you like to be added to our Email List? \nAgain – Do NOT include a biography at this process stage. \n\n Reprint Policy:We DO NOT accept previously published work.\n\n\n Simultaneous Submissions Policy:We accept sim subs.\n Multiple Submissions Policy: Please wait until after your poem(s) is/are published in or rejected by Songs of Eretz before sending more.\n\n\n Response Time: Please query if you have not received at least a preliminary response in twenty-onecalendar days.  We no longer offer editorial feedback.\n\n\n Rights To Your Poetry: If your work is accepted and you agree to join the ranks of the other fine poets who have been published in Songs of Eretz Poetry Review\,your work will appear in the quarterly issue for which it was submitted. In exchange\, you will grant Songs of Eretz the first worldwide publication rights\, first worldwide electronic rights\, non-exclusive archival rights in perpetuity\, non-exclusive anthology rights in perpetuity\, and exclusive reprint rights in perpetuity.\n\nAll other rights will revert to you upon publication\, but we would appreciate the courtesy of allowing Songs of Eretz an exclusive for a few months if that is not too much trouble. \n\n12. Acknowledgement:We expect to be acknowledged as the venue of the firstpublication should you reprint your work.\n\n\nPublished Format:  Editors make an effort to format a poem as it is submitted\,  such as a concrete poem or other special formats. However\, due to format limitations on Blogger\, editors have the right to publish any poem aligned left\, right\, or centered.\n\nQueries:  Use Editor@SongsOfEretz.com for queries.

SUMMARY:F - Call for Submissions\, Nov. 6-12: The Fabulist Flash
DESCRIPTION:The Fabulist Flash\, a new flash-fiction project from The Fabulist Words & Art\, welcomes submissions from November 6-12 for fantastical and speculative writings of up to 1\,000 words. \nThe Fabulist Flash will debut in 2024\, and run in parallel to our current short-fiction programming. See below for program details. \nWord Count & Rate\n• We’re offering a flat fee of $100 for stories of up to 1\,000 words (the equivalent of an SFWA-qualifying rate of $0.10/word)\, payable upon contracted acceptance. \n• Going above the word count is fine if you need a little headroom to take the story home\, but it’s in your interest to keep it tight\, as the flat fee is firm. \n• You can review our flash-fiction contract here. \nWhat We’re Looking For\n• Fantastical and speculative fiction\, including science fiction\, fantasy\, horror\, myth\, fairy-story\, magic realism\, literary fabulism\, and genre/subgenre remixes. \n• Evocative and intriguing scenes\, settings\, places. \n• Clear\, efficacious writing that doesn’t shy away from the poetry within prose. \n• Wide-ranging human (or sentient) experiences that we care about\, or at least feel. \n• Yeah: Odysseys\, revelation\, transformation\, dilemma/struggle\, fluid dualities. \n• Nah: Grimdark\, military\, cops\, vengeance\, power trips. \n• Exploded/deconstructed cliches of any of the foregoing … \nIf you’re not sure where your story lands in these various target zones — just send us your best. Great work will shine through. \nPlease Think Twice\, We’ve Really Seen Quite Enough Of\n• Zombies\, zombie apocalypse\, teen vampire/werewolf romance\, cute Cthulhu/nice baby Elder God\, etc. \n• Splatter/gore/brutality \n• Virtual-reality visitations with the beloved deceased \n• Mundane fantasies of revenge\, sex\, financial and business success\, etc. \n• “Another Friday Night at the Elftown Police Station” — or really anything that takes fantastical archetypes or plot devices and makes them vernacular or silly: drinking hard liquor and shit-talking with a primal entity (Death\, Cupid\, Santa\, Time)\, for example\, or an all-powerful god with an ordinary mortal name and ordinary mortal foibles (“Bob\, creator of the Universe\, woke up one Sunday with a headache”). Maybe you ARE the next Neil Gaiman — but probably not? \n• “And then she/he/they woke up” (which includes not just it-was-all-a-dream but also we’re-all-living-in-a-giant-simulation) \n• Suicide and self-harm (we realize this stuff is real and we write to deal with it\, just saying that successfully deploying it as a trope in the fantastical fiction we run is very\, very difficult to pull off) \nThat said … surprise us. If you feel you’ve written a truly original\, compelling take on any of these genre cliches\, we’re glad to check it out. \nPlease No\n• We are not open to AI/LLM-generated text. \n• No misogyny\, sexism\, racism\, bigotry\, hate\, etc. (view our nondiscrimination statement). \n• Previously unpublished works only — no reprints \nTo Submit\n• Check back on this page from Nov. 6-12\, or on our main Submittable portal\, for a live submissions button that will take you to our Submittable intake form. \n• Shunn format or at least double-spaced is great. \n• Please anonymize your submission! There must be no identifying details on your manuscript. Fear not — your contact info will be collected as part of the intake process\, and your cover letter will not be visible to our slush readers.

SUMMARY:PFN - Fathom Magazine Seeking Submissions on the Theme of Patience
DESCRIPTION:Want to write for Fathom? We’d love to hear from you. First\, it’s best if you become familiar with the type of content we publish. Then\, read our style guide for a checklist of what we are looking for in your writing. \nAt Fathom we publish articles\, personal essays\, profiles\, interviews\, book reviews\, Bible exposition\, theological and/or historical analysis\, poetry\, and short stories. The work we prefer often utilizes personal narrative to communicate the deeper aspects of the Christian faith and to draw our readers into the nuance surrounding an idea. We love writing that examines the unexplored angle and delivers a well-told story. \nWe suggest familiarizing yourself with our publication before submitting your work. Scanning through past issues of Fathom will give you an idea of the tone\, voice\, and approach we tend to take. And looking through our most recent issues will show you what our contributors have recently covered and how you can add to — not repeat — the ideas already in our publication. \nOur audience is made up of thoughtful\, curious Christians who desire to craft a multi-faceted life of faith. They typically want to engage their minds\, connect with artful expression\, and consider a new perspective or experience. \nWe aim to publish pieces that challenge our audience’s expectations\, enthrall our readers with a story\, and put together strands of thinking our readers haven’t thought to combine. We want to give all people who make their way to Fathom a reason to engage their minds and their emotions. \nSpecs\nOur standard articles fall between 1\,000 and 1\,600 words. Short stories should be at least 3\,000 words. Poems vary in length and style. \nIn the case of poetry\, please send the completed poem.  Poems vary in length and style.

SUMMARY:PFN - The Hunger: A Journal Seeking Submissions that are Collaborations
DESCRIPTION:What we hunger for:\nThe Hunger publishes visceral writing. The theme of “hunger” is not confined only to food\, but hungers and thirsts of all kinds: the craving for connection\, the human need to be filled or emptied\, the devastating desires that define our most alive moments. Hungers can be sexual\, romantic\, familial\, individualistic\, spiritual\, creative\, sorrowful\, conflicted\, humanistic\, and/or existential. \nWe are excited by the lyrical\, the experimental\, the strange\, the uncomfortable\, the vulnerable\, and just plain\, motherfucking honesty. Send us work that bleeds. We want to be devoured. \nWe nominate for Best of the Net and aim to widely promote our contributors’ work. We strive to create a writing community that is founded on principles of inclusion and diversity\, and gives a platform to a wide range of voices. We encourage all people\, regardless of race\, gender identity\, faith\, sexual orientation\, or political affiliation to submit. \nFeed us:\nFiction (up to 5\,000 words)\nPoetry (3-5 poems\, in one document)\nNonfiction (up to 5\,000 words) \nThe Hunger began as a collaboration between two best friends. Now\, as we prepare to publish its final issue\, we want to honor the spirit of our inception by inviting submissions of literary collaborations of all kinds: poems\, stories\, essays\, hybrid work\, and everything in between. The collaborative aspect can take whatever shape makes sense for the creation of the work; the only rule is that the piece(s) must be created by 2 or more people working together. \nThe submission window is open Sept 15 – Nov 1. The final issue will be published in December 2023. \nEach selected contributor will receive a token compensation of $20\, to be paid via Paypal\, Cashapp\, or Venmo.

SUMMARY:PFN - The First Line Literary Journal Seeking Submissions with the First Line: "It Was the Farthest North They Had Ever Been"
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of The First Line is to jump start the imagination–to help writers break through the block that is the blank page. Each issue contains short stories that stem from a common first line; it also provides a forum for discussing favorite first lines in literature. The First Line is an exercise in creativity for writers and a chance for readers to see how many different directions we can take when we start from the same place. \nSubmission Guidelines\n \n\n\nWe love that writers around the world are inspired by our first lines\, and we know that not every story will be sent to us. However\, we ask that you do not submit stories starting with our first lines to other journals (or post them online on public sites) until we’ve notified you as to our decision (usually four weeks after the deadline). When the entire premise of the publication revolves around one sentence\, we don’t want it to look as if we stole that sentence from another writer. If you have questions\, feel free to drop us a line. \nAlso\, we understand that writers may add our first line to a story they are currently working on or have already completed\, and that’s cool. But please do not add our first line to a previously published story and submit it to us. We do not accept previously published stories\, even if they have been repurposed for our first lines. And\, just to be clear\, we do not accept simultaneous submissions. \nOne more thing while I’ve got you here: Writers compete against one another for magazine space\, so\, technically\, every literary magazine is running a contest. There are\, however\, literary magazines that run traditional contests\, where they charge entry fees and rank the winners. We do not – nor will we ever – charge a submission fee\, nor do we rank our stories in order of importance. Occasionally\, we run contests to help come up with new first lines\, or we run fun\, gimmicky competitions for free stuff\, but the actual journal is not a contest in the traditional sense. \nFiction: All stories must be written with the first line provided. The line cannot be altered in any way\, unless otherwise noted by the editors. The story should be between 300 and 5\,000 words (this is more like a guideline and not a hard-and-fast rule; going over or under the word count won’t get your story tossed from the slush pile). The sentences can be found on the home page of The First Line’s website\, as well as in the prior issue. Note: We are open to all genres. We try to make TFL as eclectic as possible. \nPoetry: We do accept poetry\, though rarely. We have no restrictions on form or line count\, but all poems must begin with the first line provided. The line cannot be altered in any way. \nAll Submissions: Writers should include a two- to three-sentence biography of themselves that we can use in the journal should your story or poem be accepted. \nMultiple Submissions: We don’t mind if you want to submit multiple submissions for the same issue. However\, it is unlikely we will use more than one of your stories or poems in the same issue. \n\n\n\n\nNotification: We don’t make decisions about submissions until after each issue closes. We typically send notices four to five weeks after the issue’s deadline to everyone who submitted. You can also check the website’s home page for each issue’s production status. \n\n\n\n\nPayment: We pay on publication: $25.00 – $50.00 for fiction\, $10.00 for poetry\, and $25.00 for nonfiction (all U.S. dollars). We also send you a copy of the issue in which your piece appears. You’ll receive your money and issue at the same time. \n\n\n\n\n\nNote to our international writers: Postage cost for sending author copies overseas is a little high\, so we are reducing international author payment by the amount it would cost to send one author copy overseas. However\, if you would like to receive an electronic version of the issue (PDF) instead of a hard copy\, author payment will not change.

SUMMARY:PFN - Open Minds Quarterly Seeking Submissions on the Theme of "Identity"
DESCRIPTION:The theme for Winter 2024 is: Identity \nHow has your experience with mental health challenges\, mental illness\, madness\, and/or neurodivergence shaped your identity? How do other identities intersect with your experience? Have mental health challenges\, mental illness\, madness\, and/or neurodivergence affected the way you see yourself? What about others? Do you feel your identity is understood by others? What would you like to tell them about it? We want to here all about how identity affects your lived experiences. \nWe encourage you to consider this theme and incorporate it into your work. Pieces that follow the theme will have a much higher chance of being selected for this issue than pieces that don’t follow the theme. \nNonfiction\, reviews\,  and letters\, should relate specifically to experiences of madness or mental health challenges. Poetry\, fiction\, or visual art submissions do not need to focus on madness/mental health\, but we may prioritize pieces that fit our mandate and this issue’s theme. \nWe focus on publishing contributors with lived experience and work based on first-hand experience. We do not publish work that tells other people’s stories for them or tells second-hand stories about them. \nOpen Minds Quarterly is a literary journal that features explorations of life in a mad world. We welcome writing and art from people with lived experience of what is variously called mental health challenges\, mental illness\, madness\, and neurodiversity. We strive to promote these voices and perspectives by publishing work based on first-hand lived experience. \nYou may submit to ONE of these categories per submission period: \n\nNonfiction: 1 piece limit\, 3000 word maximum.\nFiction: 1 piece limit\, 3000 word maximum.\nPoetry: 4 piece limit\, 96 lines maximum per poem (this includes stanza breaks\, but not the title).

SUMMARY:PF - EcoTheo Review Seeking Submissions on the Theme of Friendship
DESCRIPTION:We consider submissions of poetry and prose that explores questions of ecology and spirituality from within and outside all religious traditions. We are delighted by compelling stories and bewitching poems that reflect our values of curiosity\, justice\, and community. We consider all submissions for publication on our website and/or in our quarterly print issues. \nWINTER 2024 Theme: FRIENDSHIP \nAristotle said that friendship is one soul abiding in two bodies\, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge referred to it as a sheltering tree. Friendship transcends species; think of companion plantings\, where fennel and dill cheer each other on; or your favorite winsome image of chimpanzees and tigers loafing and inviting their souls. For our winter issue\, EcoTheo Review seeks fiction\, essays\, and poems that explore the tenderness\, sustenance\, vicissitudes\, and surprises of our friendships. We want to know about your human and more-than-human besties\, the trees and critters that have been with you through thick and thin. From October 15th-31st we look forward to considering your work! \nEcoTheo Review appreciates the trust involved in our relationships with authors and readers. We know how difficult it can be to share work\, especially of a sensitive nature. If the work you are sending us depicts traumatic events\, whether personal or historical in nature\, we invite you to consider including a Content Warning for our editors. Should we choose to publish such work\, we want to demonstrate care for our readers as well\, and our Publication Contract will include an opportunity for you to offer a Content Warning. These will be included when we publish the work\, online and/or in print\, as well as when we share the work through our social media accounts. We are grateful for the opportunity to consider your work. \nPlease allow at least 3 months while we review your submission. Our editors are all volunteers\, with other work\, family\, and creative commitments. We appreciate your patience as we give all submissions the consideration they deserve. We do not accept previously published work\, but we do accept simultaneous submissions. Please notify us promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. \nPoetry\nPoets must limit submissions to two per calendar year. Each submission may not include more than 3 poems and may not exceed 10 pages total. Poets who exceed the number of submissions per year\, the number of poems per submission\, or the number of pages per submission will be rejected. \n\nSubmit poems as a single file.\nAll efforts are made to preserve formatting.\nAllow 3 months before querying on the status of your work.\n\nProse\nWe welcome works of fiction and creative nonfiction of up to 5\,000 words. \nOur Ecology Editor Michelle Kim Hall is particularly interested in essays\, book reviews\, and interviews drawn from the fields of ecology.

Submit up to five entries. \nSend us your 100-word piece about five minutes in your life and we’ll consider it for publication. Guidelines: \n• Piece should be 100 words\, formatted as one paragraph. Not 99. Not 101. Title\, which is not part of 100 words\, should be 15 characters maximum\, including spaces. \n• There should be one identifiable moment (approx. five minutes) that’s the crux of the piece. \n• We don’t publish:\n—retellings of dreams\n—retellings of things you imagined\n—retellings of things you saw without any reference to you/your response (we want you in the piece!)\n—erotic memoir\n—pieces containing graphic violence\n—pieces from the perspective of abusers\n—poetry or fiction\, though we are interested in poetic prose and memoir masquerading as fiction\n—pieces which overtly promote a theological or political ideology\n—pieces in which you tell us someone else’s memory as told to you\n—pieces that contain hate speech\n—slurs. \n• Each piece should be formatted without line breaks;\none block of text\, not multiple\, short paragraphs. \n• -We are receiving many (beautiful) submissions about the last time a writer saw a beloved person\, about putting a pet to sleep\, and about the quiet moments in the morning before the day starts. Due to the high number of submissions on these themes\, these pieces are less likely to receive acceptances. We challenge you to take risks with your voice\, your structure\, your chronology … anything that might set your piece apart. \nA panel of contest readers will read/score pieces. The top ten pieces will be sent to Contest Judge Karen Zey who will choose the winner as well as two runners-up. All top ten pieces will run in Five Minutes. \nThe winner will receive 2/5 the contest entry fees\, or $2 per entry. If 2 people enter\, the fees will add up to $10 and the winner will receive $4. If 100 people enter\, that amount will be $500 and the winner will receive $200. [Boring explainer: Submittable keeps $.99 per $5 entry. Five Minutes keeps $2.01 per entry. Winner wins $2 per entry.] \nPlease read Five Minutes’ guidelines for our regular submissions\, which apply here\, except you MAY submit even if you have pieces upcoming in Five Minutes\, and you may submit up to five times. We will return your entry and request a re-format if guidelines haven’t been followed. \nThe contest runs October 1-31; our regular submissions portal will open again on November 1.

SUMMARY:N - Queer Adventurers LGBTQIA Writing Contest 2023. Theme: "Firsts"
DESCRIPTION:We are looking for 1\,000 to 1\,500 word personal essays on the theme of Firsts. \nSpecifically\, we’re looking to hear a true first-person story of the first time you tried an outdoor activity and how it went. \nTrying something new outdoors builds skills and breaks us out of routine. It can lead to new friendships\, confidence\, and growth. \nLike that time I got lost in a Florida swamp and had to call 911 to get rescued\, it can also go spectacularly wrong! \nStories of the good\, the bad and the never-doing-that-again kind are all welcome! \nAll submissions must connect to the chosen theme and center your LGBTQIA identity. This means more than a passing mention of a sexuality or gender identity. We want to see LGBTQIA identities woven into the stories. \nAll submissions must come from an LGBTQIA author. \nAt Queer Adventurers\, we take an expansive definition of outdoor adventures. We love hardcore stories of multi-day trips and treks. We also appreciate the gentler activities: urban nature walks\, birding\, garden tours. We believe spending time in nature is healing\, regardless of the level of activity it involves. We’re deeply excited to hear your stories of LGBTQ travel firsts. \nEligibility: \nThis LGBTQ+ writing contest accepts submissions from writers anywhere in the world aged 18+. Stories must be previously unpublished. Stories that were previously published on a blog\, Instagram\, etc. are ineligible. Stories must be in English. \nOne submission per writer is allowed\, thanks! Submissions that exceed this work count will be deemed ineligible\, as will multiple submissions from a single writer. \nPrizes\nThe winning writer will receive a $150 cash prize\, payable via PayPal or Venmo.\nOne runner-up will receive a $50 cash prize\, payable via PayPal or Venmo.\nWinning and longlisted writers will have their essays published in Queer Adventurers.

SUMMARY:P - Call for Submissions to bath magg
DESCRIPTION:Submissions\n\nWe publish three times a year: in April for the Spring Issue\, August for the Summer Issue\, and December for the Winter Issue. Our submission windows are as follows: \nFebruary 1 – 29 for Spring Issue\nJune 1 – 30 for Summer Issue\nOctober 1 – 31 for Winter Issue \nPlease send no more than three poems as a word document to: bathmagg@gmail.com with the subject line ‘SUBMISSION’. Poems must be previously unpublished. Please include a short biographical note in the body of your email. Please create a new email thread for each submission (i.e.: if you’ve submitted to us before\, please don’t reply to a previous submission’s email thread). Poems submitted outside of the submission window will not be read. \nWe no longer accept simultaneous submissions. i.e.: please don’t send us work that is being considered elsewhere. We are a very small team\, with just the one inbox. We believe our turnaround time of five weeks from the close of the submission window is fair (and even quick) all things considered. \nWe have no restriction on theme or length but for long poems or sequences we suggest no more than three A4 pages. \nWe aim to respond to all submissions within five weeks from the close of the submission window. \nWe currently do not offer payment for poems (although we hope this might change soon). bath magg is run by a tiny team of volunteers\, so\, for now\, all we can offer is our love.

SUMMARY:PFN - The Parliament Literary Journal Seeking Submissions. Theme: "Secrets"
DESCRIPTION:Call for Submissions\n\n\nHello my Owls\, \n \nEven though\, as I type this now\, the weather outside has hit near-record high temperatures and the added humidity has us stripped to the bare essential (we’re modest-ish)\, I’ve got Winter on my mind. I’m imagining what\, when the weather turns beyond the invigorating crisp of autumn into the shocking grips of the winter’s air\, what I’d like to be cozied up with. In selecting the theme for our Winter 2024 issue\, I envisaged myself under blankets\, curled into the nooks of someone equally soft and strong against me\, hot tea at the ready\, and reading . . . what exactly? What does Winter bring? \n \nAnd I thought: There’s something hushed about Winter\, voices muffled under layers\, our words bound closer to us. We don’t spill out the door as quickly or even as often as we do in the warmer weather. There is an alone-ness to the Winter not found in other seasons\, as we turn inside our homes and inside ourselves; hibernating with our thoughts… and our SECRETS. \n \nFor our Winter 2024 issue\, I invite you to join me in (metaphorically) opening the windows and shouting into the bitter air that awaits us SECRETS.   \n \nYou are invited to interpret this theme creatively. Create uniquely. Submit your most unusual and beautiful. \n \nShare your secrets.

SUMMARY:F - Every Day Fiction Seeking November Stories
DESCRIPTION:We are looking for some suitable stories for November 2023\, including: \n\nAll Saints Day\nAll Souls Day / Dia De Los Muertos\nSadie Hawkins Day\nGuy Fawkes Day\nRemembrance Day / Veterans Day\nWorld Kindness Day\nChildren’s Day\nAmerican Thanksgiving\nBlack Friday\nRed Planet Day\nany stories specifically featuring the month of November\, late autumn or early winter.\n\nThe deadline for these stories is October 27\, 2023\, at the end of the day (11:59 PM Pacific Time). \nGuidelines \nEvery Day Fiction is looking for very short (flash) fiction\, of up to 1000 words. There’s no such thing as too short — if you can do the job in 50 words\, have at it! — but our readers prefer pieces that tell or at least hint at a complete story (some sort of action or tension rising to a moment of climax\, and at least a clue toward a resolution\, though it doesn’t have to be all spelled out). \nAll fiction genres are acceptable\, and stories that don’t fit neatly into any genre are welcome too. While personal experiences and other non-fiction can be great sources of inspiration\, please turn them into fiction for us\, or send them elsewhere. \nOur readership is adult\, so children’s stories are unlikely to be accepted unless they are relevant to adults as well. On the other hand\, we are not impressed by gratuitous sex and violence\, or pointlessly foul language; edgy content should be necessary and appropriate to the plot and characters. Please consider that our readers may be at work or enjoying our stories over a meal\, so we tend to avoid explicit erotica and stomach-churning gore. \nIt ought to go without saying that any story submitted to Every Day Fiction must be your own unpublished original creation. If you publish a story on a blog\, even your own personal blog\, or any website accessible to the general public (i.e.\, if the story can be found and read online without a password or friend status or other limitation)\, it is considered published and therefore inappropriate for our market. \nSince we do not have the time or resources to manage copyright permissions\, please do not send us works with quoted song lyrics. You may use song titles and the names of composers\, lyricists\, and/or performers\, and you may paraphrase or refer to the song lyrics\, but we are unable to publish stories with directly quoted song lyrics unless they are in the public domain (written before 1920). \nWe will not publish stories which feature living public figures as characters\, although referencing them (e.g.\, in terms of a concert/event/sighting) is acceptable. Historical/deceased public figures are acceptable as characters. We do not publish fan fiction and will not publish stories which feature non-original characters\, although referencing them (e.g.\, in a film\, as a toy\, etc.) is fine\, and historical/cultural/legendary characters which are clearly not the property of a single creator (e.g.\, Santa Claus\, King Arthur) are also permissible. \nAll stories must be submitted through Submittable — we cannot accept stories via email or snail mail.
