Haiku or other short work not to exceed five lines are preferred; longer works may be submitted and will be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of length, each submission must expressly contain the words \u201cautumn moon\u201d or a similar reference to the moon within the season, such as \u201cOctober moon\u201d or \u201cfirst frost moon.\u201d Traditional kigo may also be used (scarecrow, crickets, or harvest as examples).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Poems should be submitted within the body of an email addressed to plumtreetavern (at) gmail (dot) com.<\/div>\n<div>Up to three poems may be submitted. Please place Autumn Moon in the subject line of any submission.<\/p>\n<p>At the editor\u2019s discretion, submissions may be selected for publication in regular editions of Plum Tree tavern.<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Plum Tree Tavern invites original and previously unpublished poetry of green witness and red protest.<\/p>\n<p>Climate change and social and economic repression are inextricably linked. The crowd denying or preventing effective responses to global warming is the same crowd repressing equality within society.<\/p>\n<p>For the green witness and ecopoetic half of the equation, Plum Tree seeks work focusing on specific images of physical nature. Work that focuses on the image in nature as it exists is greatly preferred over the writer\u2019s judgments of the image.<\/p>\n<p>The term \u201cred protest\u201d is deliberately used here to call for poetical works of leftist resistance. The tavern is not looking for wishy washy give peace a chance plea bargains but for work with a sharper edge. But manifesto, diatribe and polemic without poetical structure or elements isn\u2019t the ticket either.<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Works of up to 40 lines sounds about right. Longer work will be considered. One submission of up to three poems per month sounds about right, too.
