Deadline for pitches is Oct. 22<\/strong><\/p>\n As a leading publisher of solutions journalism\u00a0for more than 25 years,\u00a0YES!\u00a0<\/em>has\u00a0reported\u00a0on communities\u2014including those historically excluded\u2014organizing to solve\u00a0the\u00a0problems\u00a0created by extractive and exploitive systems.\u00a0We have\u00a0told stories of\u00a0the\u00a0social justice\u00a0movements propelling the nation forward.\u00a0Even as we\u00a0have inspired\u00a0countless\u00a0readers to\u00a0take action\u00a0in their own communities,\u00a0so many more\u00a0have\u00a0questions:\u00a0But how?\u00a0What can\u00a0I\u00a0<\/em>do about that?\u00a0How do\u00a0I\u00a0<\/em>do that?<\/p>\n Those questions can sometimes lead to feeling overwhelmed. Even those \u201cdoing the work\u201d are burning out.There is so much work to be done in creating a better world\u2014a just world, an equitable, compassionate,and sustainable world. Where do I start? How do I start?<\/p>\n And how do\u00a0I\u00a0keep going?<\/em><\/p>\n The spring\u00a02022\u00a0issue of\u00a0YES! Magazine<\/em>\u00a0will be an introspective, personal exploration of \u201cbeing the change you want to see in the world.\u201d It will\u00a0allow\u00a0readers\u00a0to stop, be still, breathe, reflect, and behold. To take account of their own personal agency\u00a0through the stories of others\u00a0as a part of building\u00a0a better world\u00a0for all.<\/p>\n We\u2019re looking for pitches and leads for reported stories, essays, and analyses that will explore personal approaches to activism, and simply, ways of being engaged in what is going on in our communities.
