Theme: Nature Unbound"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\">2024 POETRY COMPETITION<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2>THEME \u2013 NATURE UNBOUND<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p>The entry fee is \u00a34 per poem for age \u201918 &amp; Over\u2019, and free of charge for under 18s<\/p>\n<p>Over 18s can submit up to five poems, under 18s one poem<\/p>\n<p>Entrants can enter poems from any country in the world, but they must be written in English.<\/p>\n<p>You can write your poems in any format \u2013 haiku, sonnet, blank verse etc.<\/p>\n<p>Your poem(s) must be no more than 30 lines long<\/p>\n<p>Registration, entry and any payment due must be completed online through our official competition platform Skor.ie<\/p>\n<p>Poems are now entered as text on the website, rather than as a file.\u00a0 You can format your text once it has been entered<\/p>\n<p>The competition is judged anonymously, so please don\u2019t add your name, address or any other identifier to your poem text<\/p>\n<p>Deadline for entry is Sunday 7th January\u00a0 2024 at 11.55pm<\/p>\n<h5>JUDGE -WE ARE DELIGHTED THAT THIS YEAR\u2019S COMPETITION WILL BE JUDGED BY WENDY PRATT.<\/h5>\n<h5>WENDY\u2019S THOUGHTS ON THE THEME \u2018NATURE UNBOUND\u2019:<\/h5>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking for poems that escape the confines of traditional nature writing. I\u2019m looking for writing that reflects the drive that nature has to just<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<i>be<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>no matter where the boundaries lie. I\u2019m looking for innovation of craft and thought. Not just dandelions squeezing through the gaps between paving slabs, what about the re-wilding of rivers, what about the window box encouraging pollinators in a high rise flat, what about the nightingales singing from the overgrowth of an industrial estate\u2019s wasteland. Grow your thoughts, let your poems flourish. Where is the connection to nature that doesn\u2019t conform to stereotype? How do you connect to nature if your life is constrained by circumstance, disability, societal?\u00a0 Nature Unbound is about thinking outside of traditional nature writing tropes.
