As editors of\u00a0Pedestal Magazine<\/em>, we intend to support both established and burgeoning writers. We are committed to promoting artistic diversity and celebrating the voice of the individual.<\/p>\n

Pedestal Magazine<\/em>\u00a0does not accept previously published work, unless specifically requested; however, we will accept simultaneous submissions, if so noted. Please inform us immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere. We do not accept submissions by regular mail. Neither do we accept email submissions.\u00a0We now accept all work through Submittable.com<\/strong>. Please do not submit more than once per reading cycle.<\/p>\n

Current and Upcoming Guidelines:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For\u00a0Pedestal 89<\/em>, scheduled for publication in December 2021, editors will be accepting submissions of poetry. No restrictions on theme, style, length, or genre. Please submit up to five (5) poems and include all work in a single file.
\nOpen for submissions: November 1 \u2013 November 28
\nPayment: $50 per accepted poem.<\/p>\n

Pedestal Magazine<\/em>\u00a0publishes\u00a0reviews<\/strong>\u00a0of full-length poetry collections (we are no longer able to review chapbooks). Most of our reviews are selected and handled in-house by staff reviewers; however, if you are interested in submitting a title for possible review, or would like to review a specific title, please query at\u00a0pedmagazine@carolina.rr.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How to Submit Your Writing:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As mentioned above,\u00a0Pedestal Magazine<\/em>\u00a0does not accept previously published material, unless specifically requested. The editors ask for first rights to any piece selected. At the time of publication, all rights revert back to the author\/artist; however,\u00a0Pedestal Magazine<\/em>\u00a0retains the right to publish the piece(s) in any subsequent issue or anthology, whether in print or online, without additional payment. Should you decide to republish the piece elsewhere, we ask that you cite\u00a0Pedestal Magazine<\/em>\u00a0as a place of previous publication and provide\u00a0Pedestal Magazine\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0web address.<\/p>\n

Starting with Issue 84,\u00a0Pedestal Magazine<\/em>\u00a0increased payment for accepted work from $40 to $50 per poem. In addition, pay rates have been increased for editors and reviewers. Also, because the amount of submissions received has dramatically increased over the last few submission cycles, we are encountering rising administrative costs, including fees related to use of the Submittable and MailChimp platforms. For these reasons, we have implemented a $3 processing fee for all submissions.<\/p>\n

We do our best to respond to submissions in 4-6 weeks. Please do not query regarding status of a submission until at least 8 weeks have passed.
