Theme: Holiday Tales"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">The 2024 Short Story Award submission is open through April 30, 2024!<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Our 2024 theme:\u00a0<strong>Holiday Tales (US Thanksgiving through New Year\u2019s Day)<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-669\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dev.bwgwritersroundtable.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/SeasonsReadings-Final-683x1024.jpg?resize=357%2C535&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"357\" height=\"535\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>We are seeking never-published (including online or blog posts) short stories\u00a0of 2,000 words or fewer on the theme:\u00a0<strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Holiday Tales<\/span><\/strong>. We define holiday stories as those that involve any holiday from US Thanksgiving through New Year\u2019s Day, or stories that reference those holidays. (There are many such holidays, so let your imagination fly.) While our theme is broadly interpreted,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">the holiday must be an important element in the story, not just referred to in passing.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0(DIE HARD would\u00a0<em>not<\/em> be accepted!)<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><em><strong>Winners will receive:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:<\/strong><br \/>\n$250 and publication in our upcoming anthology:\u00a0<em><strong>Season\u2019s Readings: More Sweet, Funny, and Strange Holiday Tales<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong><br \/>\n$100 and publication in\u00a0<strong><em>Bethlehem Writers Roundtable<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Third Place:<\/strong><br \/>\n$50 and publication in\u00a0<strong><em>Bethlehem Writers Roundtable<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">2024 Competition Rules<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>First-place\u00a0<\/strong>winner will receive a\u00a0<strong>$250 cash award and publication<\/strong>\u00a0of the winning story either in the Bethlehem Writers Group\u2019s upcoming anthology of holiday stories tentatively entitled:\u00a0<strong><em>Season\u2019s Readings: Sweet, Funny, and Strange Tales in the Holiday Spirit\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>or as a featured story in\u00a0<em>Bethlehem Writers Roundtable<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entry Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stories must be submitted using the information below.<\/li>\n<li>Entries must be no more than 2,000 words.<\/li>\n<li>All entries must be previously unpublished, and adhere to our Terms and Conditions set out below.<\/li>\n<li>We welcome excellent writing from diverse voices and experiences regardless of race, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, religion, disability, or age (except that authors must be 18 years of age or older). In keeping with our standards of inclusivity, we reserve the right to refuse to publish work that might be harmful to any member of a marginalized group.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Submissions open at 12:01 a.m. ET on January 1, 2024, and must be received by 11:59 p.m. EDT, April 30, 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Payments are requested within 24 hours of submissions. All payments must be received through PayPal no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT on May 1, 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Entry Fee:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$15 per story.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prizes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>First prize:\u00a0<\/strong>$250 and consideration for inclusion in the upcoming BWG anthology, tentatively titled\u00a0<em>Season\u2019s Readings: More Sweet, Funny, and Strange Holiday Tales<\/em>.
