Come to the table. July is all about food. The meals we\u2019ve made, the tables we\u2019ve shared, the way food has impacted your life. Eating is universal, sharing a meal is universal, how does it factor into your story?<\/p>\n

** HerStry is always happy to share stories anonymously\u2014if your story is selected for publication, simply let your editor know you would not like your name shared **<\/p>\n

THE RULES:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • All stories must be true and about you.<\/li>\n
  • Stories must follow the theme in some way, interpretations can be wide.<\/li>\n
  • Stories must stay between 500\u20133,000 words.<\/li>\n
  • Documents should be double spaced, 12Pt font with 1 inch margins.<\/li>\n
  • Submissions must be in .doc or .docx form\u2014we do not accept PDFs<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Stories are read blind. Please DO NOT put any identifying material on your manuscript. Manuscripts that don\u2019t follow this rule will be automatically disqualified without being read. We realize personal essays may contain your name; a first name is fine.<\/li>\n
  • Please include a third person bio. Cover letters are fine, but not necessary (we don\u2019t read them, we\u2019re more interested in what you\u2019ve written).<\/li>\n
  • Please submit\u00a0only once<\/strong>\u00a0per theme.<\/li>\n
  • We do not accept previously published stories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    HerStry centers the experiences of women identifying persons. We\u2019re looking for work from bigender\/polygender persons, cisgender women, intergender persons\/intersex persons, nonbinary persons\/gender non-conforming persons, transgender women\/transfeminine persons, two spirit. In other words, if you are a cis man, please refrain from submitting.<\/p>\n
