It will only accept one piece at a time. <b>Please familiarize yourself with our submission requirements at https:\/\/orangepeelmag.wordpress.com\/submit\/ before submitting!<\/b><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Our theme for this issue is\u00a0<i>bubblegum<\/i>. We&#8217;re putting together a love letter to pop, fun, and youth, and taking these things seriously. Camp and kitsch are invited. We are also opening up submissions to reviews for the first time; send us your appraisals of media from books to songs, concerts to movies, with bonus points to reviews of works you love that don&#8217;t receive enough good press. Some suggestions to get your mind going: a collage of teen magazine cutouts; a comic about high school dorkiness; a review of the soundtrack for a Disney Channel original movie; a poem about what was hot in 1998.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This form closes at 11:59 pm on August 17. Responses will be sent out by August 25. If you have not received a response before that date, check spam, then reach out to orangepeellitmag@gmail.com.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 id=\"submission-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">submission requirements:<\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><em>what do we want?<\/em><\/h4>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-We are seeking\u00a0<strong>unpublished<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>prose and<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>poetry<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Posting your work on social media does not count as publication and we\u2019re happy to consider anything you\u2019ve shared in this manner.\u00a0<strong>Work that has been published in other magazines, zines, journals, online publications, books, etc. is considered published and not eligible for this magazine.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-We consider simultaneous submissions, assuming that you\u00a0<strong>contact us if another publication plans to publish a work that you submitted to\u00a0<em>orangepeel<\/em><\/strong>. If you\u2019re unfamiliar with simultaneous submission etiquette,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/duotrope.com\/guides\/simultaneous-submissions.aspx\">this<\/a>\u00a0is a good resource.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-We primarily conduct submissions through our Google Form.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-We\u00a0<strong>don\u2019t consider artist bios<\/strong>\u00a0alongside works and they will be ignored if included in a document.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-Please submit each work separately.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">\u2013<em>orangepeel<\/em>\u00a0asks for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pw.org\/content\/copyright\">First Serial Rights<\/a>\u00a0to published works.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><em>written submissions<\/em><\/h4>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-Written work can be original\u00a0<strong>prose, poetry, prosetry, flash, essays, missives, and more<\/strong>. It can be\u00a0<strong>fiction or<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>creative nonfiction<\/strong>. Please no articles, critical essays, or translations of another person\u2019s work. We welcome toying with form\/hybrid approaches.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">&#8211;<strong>2500 words or less<\/strong>\u00a0please! We check the word count before reading.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-We will consider work in various languages. For written work,\u00a0<strong>we ask that an English translation is provided if the full original piece is not in English<\/strong>. If you speak languages other than English, we totally encourage your use of those languages in your piece!<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-By submitting your work, you allow our staff to make\u00a0<strong>grammar and spelling edits where needed<\/strong>. If your work is accepted and we believe that any more substantial edits are required, we will ask you before making them.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-We have a limit of\u00a0<strong>two submissions per category per person<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>We consider prose and poetry as one category<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">-Please submit written work as\u00a0<strong>Word docs or Google Docs<\/strong>. We do not consider .pdfs, .pages, or .txt files.<\/p>\n<p data-adtags-visited=\"true\">We will be considering pop culture reviews for the\u00a0<em>bubblegum<\/em>\u00a0half issue.
