They Call Us<\/em>, a feminist magazine devoted to discussing everyday gender discrimination, is currently accepting free submissions of poetryand prose for our new edition, They Call Us Bridezillas<\/em>. Before it was about religion or love, marriage was about the purchase of a woman.\u00a0 Centuries have gone by and women’s rights progressed, but to what extent\u00a0 This edition will unpack the patriarchal history, the heteronormative traditions, and the societal pressure of weddings past while discussing how modern women view weddings and its place in love today.. We also ask the question of what torment made monsters of the bride to be.<\/p>\n

POETRY AND PROSE SUBMISSIONS<\/span><\/p>\n

  • \n

    All writers interested in submitting to\u00a0They Call Us\u00a0should consider the theme of each edition with their submissions. You are welcome to submit something already completed or create new work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Writing can be any genre, whether it be speculative or realistic. Feel free to get creative or use your own experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    The piece should not exceed 1,200 words and be submitted as a word document.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Multiple submissions and simultaneous submissions are both accepted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Each work submitted should include the following in the body of their email: Title of work, full name (or name you want for credit), and pronouns. We appreciate social media accounts as well so we can credit you properly.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    A personal response is always returned, whether you were accepted or not, via the Prose or Poetry Editors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n
