We want to hear about it.<\/strong>\u00a0For our 11th issue we are looking for submissions on period pieces. From ancient times (<em>Last Temptation of Christ<\/em>) to recent past (<em>Uncut Gems<\/em>) we want to hear your take on how films have represented, invented, or misunderstood a previous era.<\/p>\n<p>Send us personal pieces, film diaries, fan fiction, and experimental pieces on anything set in the past. This could be a specific film, era or historical figure, an aspect of filmmaking (candlelight in\u00a0<em>Barry Lyndon<\/em>), or a broader trend in film history or present. We appreciate thoughtful analysis but also a playful tone; we want intelligent pieces that aren&#8217;t too full of themselves. We don&#8217;t think of ourselves as an authority, but a confidante.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"heading-large-h2\"><strong>How To Submit<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"text-size-medium\"><strong class=\"heading-medium-h3\">\u200d<\/strong><strong>We strongly prefer completed pieces<\/strong>, but we understand that writing on spec is not a realistic prospect for many writers. With that in mind, we still accept pitches.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc47\u00a0<strong>Please include:<br \/>\n\u200d<br \/>\n\u200d<\/strong>&#8211; Completed piece (doesn&#8217;t need to be perfectly polished!)<br \/>\n\u200d<strong>OR<\/strong>\u00a0if you\u2019re pitching:\u00a0a short paragraph on the piece (topic, relevancy, intended word count &#8211; 1,000 words max for features, 300 words max for film diaries)<br \/>\n&#8211; Why you think this is a good fit for<em>\u00a0In the Mood<br \/>\n\u200d<\/em>&#8211; If you&#8217;re pitching:\u00a01-2 writing samples (they don\u2019t need to be published)<br \/>\n&#8211; Short bio or link to your website<\/p>\n<p class=\"heading-large-h2\">Send Submissions &amp;\u00a0Queries to:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-size-medium spacing-clean\"><a class=\"text-style-link is-red\" href=\"mailto:inthemoodmagazine@gmail.com\">inthemoodmagazine@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"heading-large-h2\"><strong>What then?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"text-size-medium spacing-clean\">For magazine submissions, we review all of them at the end of our submission period, after which you\u2019ll receive a response from us with our publication decision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please keep in mind that a rejection is not necessarily a reflection on the quality of your work!\u00a0<\/strong>We get a large number of submissions and only have a limited number of spots, which unfortunately means we have to pass on many great submissions.<\/p>\n<p>If your piece is accepted, it&#8217;ll go through an editing process. As a volunteer-run journal, we pay a modest honorarium of\u00a0<strong>$30 CAD per feature<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>$20 CAD for film diarie<\/strong><strong>s<\/strong>, sent upon publication.
