Our theme for Journal Thirteen is<\/p>\n

Yup.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here in the new world, we are boom and bust…fixed and broken\u2026cycling endlessly\u2026spiraling up or down.
\nWe are trapped by the present moment\u2026freed by the present moment\u2026having and having not\u2026watching our bank account\u2026safeguarding our emotional stockpiles\u2026consuming in the bipolar economy\u2026halfway home and managing the gas gauge\u2026shielding our eyes from the stark contrast\u2026squinting at the subtle difference\u2026zigzagging toward the light\u2026we\u2026<\/p>\n

are empty becoming FULL and FULL becoming empty.<\/p>\n

If enlightenment is the wave realizing it is the ocean, how do we account for the island of trash drifting in the Pacific?<\/p>\n

We invite you to help us fill the emptiness of these thoughts by sending us your work, and by reading the work we post.<\/p>\n

What we are looking for\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Muleskinner Journal accepts previously unpublished work only. Please use the following word counts to select a category to submit. Submit in only one category. Send no more than one submission per issue.<\/p>\n

    Poetry:<\/strong> Any length or form. (1-3 pieces)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Flash or Micro Fiction<\/strong>: max. 1000 words each (1-3 pieces)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Short Story\/excerpts from longer (previously unpublished) work:<\/strong> (max. 6000 words)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Creative Nonfiction:<\/strong> (max. 3000 words)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    We look for writing of all kinds that uses skill, wit, and determination to deliver the goods<\/em>.\u00a0 We accept and publish poetry, short fiction, flash fiction, micro-fiction, short scripts, excerpts from longer works, memoir, criticism, craft essays, artwork, journalism, and shopping lists.<\/p>\n
