Theme: &#8220;Belonging&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 class=\"google-fonts-blocks\"><strong>Articles<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><em><strong>Parabola<\/strong><\/em> welcomes original essays. We look for lively, penetrating material unencumbered by jargon or academic argument. We prefer well-researched, objective, and unsentimental pieces that are grounded in one or more religious or cultural tradition; articles that focus on dreams, visions, or other very personal experiences are unlikely to be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Send your submission to the email or physical address listed below, along with a brief autobiography (2-3 sentences). Emails should include the article attached as a .doc, .txt, or .rtf file.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All articles must be directly related to the theme.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Entries that do not follow submission guidelines cannot be considered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"google-fonts-blocks\"><strong>Poetr<\/strong>y<\/h5>\n<p>Poetry must be submitted as email attachments in the following file formats:<\/p>\n<p>.doc (MS word),<br \/>\n.txt (standard text file) or<br \/>\n.rtf (formatted text file).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submissions in other formats will not be considered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submissions are limited to a maximum of five (5) poems per author.\u00a0 No line limits<br \/>\nThe file must be transmitted under the author\u2019s last name, with all poems in a single file, separated by page breaks. Each page must have the author\u2019s name on it.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions should be sent by email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:poetry@parabola.org\">poetry@parabola.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note:\u00a0<em><strong>Parabola<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0rarely accepts original fiction.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"google-fonts-blocks\"><strong>Submission Guidelines<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h5 class=\"google-fonts-blocks\"><strong>Length<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Articles: 1000-3000 words<\/li>\n<li>Retellings of traditional stories: 500-1500 words<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"google-fonts-blocks\"><strong>Biographical Information<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Please include a brief (2-3 sentence) biography with your subscription. Fit the description to the subject matter of the article, e.g., for an article on Tibetan Buddhism, \u201cSmith spent three years travelling in Tibet.\u201d Or, a publication credit: \u201cSmith is the author of\u00a0<em>Pilgrimage in Tibet<\/em>\u00a0(W. W. Norton, 1987).\u201d Always include your publisher.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"google-fonts-blocks\"><strong>Rights<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><em>Parabola<\/em>\u00a0purchases the right to use an article in all substantially complete versions (including non-print versions) of a single issue of our journal. We also request the right to use the piece in the promotion of Parabola, and to authorize single-copy reproductions for academic purposes.
