Ten finalists will each be awarded $250 (up from 4 finalists last year!)<\/p>\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f\u00a0<a class=\"link-color sbm-text link accessible-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onlypoems.net\/contests\/leonard-cohen-poetry-prize\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>Read More About the Prize &amp; Ethos<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcee\u00a0<u><strong>SUBMISSION GUIDELINES<\/strong><\/u>\ud83d\udcee<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Send us up to 3 pages of poetry.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Each poem starts on a new page.<\/li>\n<li>In the spirit of\u00a0<a class=\"link-color sbm-text link accessible-link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL7ZkJZsRc03FWKLnqti458vyafZrr4k3V&amp;si=WNk6ATTZisyp31Ky\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leonard Cohen<\/a>, we ask that your poems deal in some way with the intersections of\u00a0<strong>Love, Faith, &amp; Sex.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Open to anyone writing in English, anywhere in the world (with a special encouragement to poets submitting from outside North America).<\/li>\n<li>We only accept previously unpublished work. Self-published pieces (blogs, social media, personal sites) are welcome, but poems published in journals, anthologies, or books are not eligible.<\/li>\n<li>Please withdraw your poems if they get accepted elsewhere.<\/li>\n<li>We love reading cover letters. You\u2019re welcome to share your love for Leonard Cohen, or your publication history, if any, though these are read only after the decisions are made and do \u00a0not influence the outcome. The ones that move to the next round are read by 5 more readers. Longlist is read by our full team of 35+ readers and\u00a0<a class=\"link-color sbm-text link accessible-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onlypoems.net\/masthead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Editors<\/a>. Shortlist is discussed by the Editors. Final decisions for the winner &amp; finalists are made by the Editor-in-Chief,\u00a0<a class=\"link-color sbm-text link accessible-link\" href=\"https:\/\/karankapoor.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Karan Kapoor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Judging criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0In evaluating submissions, we look for originality, emotional intensity, musicality of language, and a deep engagement with the themes of Love, Faith, and Sex.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Timeline:<\/strong>\u00a0We respond to everyone before the end of this January.
