We welcome manuscripts that need some polishing as our editors are always looking forward to working with the authors to make the book the best it can be for publication in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the Chapbook Contest will receive\u00a0<strong>$2000 and publication of the free, downloadable chapbook on Frontier, and 50 physical author copies<\/strong>\u00a0to share and sell. Most exciting of all: the chapbook will also be\u00a0<strong>distributed to tens of thousands of readers, editors, agents, and magazines through our newsletter<\/strong>. Don\u2019t underestimate the power of this reach to empower your career as a poet. You can read our 2018 Winner, Xiao Yue Shan&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontierpoetry.com\/how-often-i-have-chosen-love\/\"><strong><em>How Often I Have Chosen Love<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and our 2019 Winner,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontierpoetry.com\/shadow-black\"><strong><em>Shadow Black<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Naima Tokunow, was selected by Jericho Brown!\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontierpoetry.com\/in-the-year-of-our-making-unmaking\/\"><strong><em>In the Year of our Making &amp; Unmaking<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Frederick Speers was selected by Carl Phillips to be our winner in 2020. Currently, they have over 20,000 views \/ downloads combined.<\/p>\n<p>Our 2021 winner, Abigail Johnson&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Opportunity Cost<\/em>\u00a0will be published in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Our guest judge\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomsleigh.com\/about\">Tom Sleigh<\/a><strong>\u00a0will select the winner this year\u00a0<\/strong>from ten finalists selected by our editorial team. Tom Sleigh is the author of ten books of poetry, most recently\u00a0<i>House of Fact, House of Ruin;\u00a0<\/i><i>Station Zed<\/i>;\u00a0<i>Army Cats<\/i>; and\u00a0<i>Space Walk<\/i>, winner of the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. He is also the author of two essay collections,\u00a0<i>The Land between Two Rivers: Writing in an Age of Refugees<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>Interview with a Ghost<\/i>. Sleigh teaches at Hunter College and lives in New York.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.graywolfpress.org\/books\/kings-touch\">He published his eleventh collection,\u00a0<em>The King&#8217;s Touch,\u00a0<\/em>on February 1st with\u00a0<em>Graywolf Press.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank you for giving us the chance to be made better writers ourselves in reading your work<\/strong>! Good luck, and see you on the other side.<\/p>\n<p>Best, Josh \u2014 Editor of Frontier Poetry<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Guidelines for submission<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Contest is open for US and international poets, but the poems must be in English.<\/li>\n<li>Poets of any publication history are welcome to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Manuscript should be 10-30 pages.
