class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\">Accepting Submissions<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>We want the essays in this volume to help readers understand the deadly automotive ecologies that have emerged around the world over the past century.\u00a0 Because we expect this anthology to provoke as wide as possible a discussion about whether the sacrifices we\u2019ve made for cars are worth it, we especially welcome:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>submissions that address the peculiarities of a local transit culture<\/li>\n<li>submissions by people who don\u2019t think of themselves as writers or scholars<\/li>\n<li>submissions from authors outside the global North<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although essays may contain a personal element, contributions should focus on description and exploration of the anti-life ecology created by cars.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0looking for: essays on carbon emissions and global warming (this volume will focus on local ecologies), personal stories about driver-caused death and injury (unless such stories are situated as part of a broader ecological analysis), essays written by cars pretending to be people.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>Topics might include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>roadkill disposal work<\/li>\n<li>body-car encounters<\/li>\n<li>how cars change laws<\/li>\n<li>highway geographies and urban segregation<\/li>\n<li>cars and masculinities<\/li>\n<li>the impact of cars and roads on multi-species worlds<\/li>\n<li>automobile soundscapes vs. avian soundscapes<\/li>\n<li>asphalt economies<\/li>\n<li>animal\/human mobilities and disabilities vs. automobilities<\/li>\n<li>the ineffable romance of being stuck in traffic<\/li>\n<li>cars as housing<\/li>\n<li>animals living in or destroying cars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2026and many others we haven\u2019t thought of.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Word
