PFN – Call for Submissions to Opal Age Tribune. Theme: Fata Morgana
Fata Morgana is a mirage, an Italian word and the Arthurian sorceress Morgan Le Fey’s creation. For this edition, we’re embracing the allure of illusion and taking chances on castles in the sky.
We’re interpreting Fata Morgana as something that makes your soul feel like it’s going 200 kph while your body stays still. The embodiment of the feeling of yearning and dreaming after seeing a movie that really hits in the theater, walking away with a piece of your soul still sitting in chocolate shelled velvet seats.
It’s the moment before making a decision that will change the trajectory of your life, or the memory of being seven years old and working up the courage to try sour candy for the first time. Or it’s serendipitous moments that you just can’t explain.
What are we looking for? Send us your flash fiction, eternity glimmers, poetry, inexplicable sensations, soul whispers, prose, acts of free will, theoretical essays, serendipitous happenings, plays, incomprehensible mystery, paintings, consciousness glimpses, esoteric musings, analysis of art that makes your heartbeat a little faster, personal mythologies, perpetual yearnings, memory expressions, immortality tips, lore, out of body experiences, daily magics, whimsy awakenings, ancestral healing, fashion, messages from friendly spirits, butterfly effects, personal philosophies, string theories, wonders, the indomitable human spirit.
Do I have to be queer to submit?
Opal Age is a space dedicated and created by queer community.
We use words like “queer” so as to not be limited in our scope. Further, “queerness” is in alignment with our philosophy. After all, we dream borderlessly.
It is not required to disclose your identity to us. This is to honor the private lives of those who submit. Please do not assume the identity, in turn, of those who are published.
We will always shamelessly be a queer creative collective but we know too well the confines of the closet and societal dangers queer individuals face internationally.
It is our assumption and practice that those who submit are in solidarity with the queer community; our struggles and our limitless capacity for joy.
