Fresh Words is a new International Literary Magazine which aims at being a storehouse of best contemporary literature.

Water, for our purposes, will be broadly interpreted and might include meditations on physical, social, racial, environmental, or other themes.

You must include some sort of literal or figurative monster, but this can be in any form imaginable.

Let your imagination soar, and send us your best avian-inspired poetry, stories and essays!

For this issue, we want to hear what survival means for you and your queer identity as it relates to all areas of fashion.

No matter what it may be, submit your piece and let us see what the holiday season means to you.

We are looking for poems in memorial, in protest, reflecting or looking forward, poems that lament but also inspire that tie in with the theme of Ordinary People: perpetrators as ordinary people, persecuted people as ordinary people, rescuers as ordinary people, and ordinary people as bystanders

We interpret the provocation very loosely. It is really up to you to define or reimagine the theme in a way that is helpful. Be brave and bold, have a go, and send us your best.

We want poetry that is evocative of the otherworldly. Be bold & dare to go beyond.

Each issue includes 32 shorter poems. This minimalist focus fosters an intimate and intensive reading experience.

100 words for your story ... no more or no less. Tell a story, write a prose poem, pen a slice of your memoir, or try your hand at an essay.

The poem of a single line is not a new technique, but a traditional presentation of haiku made new again in English.

Exploring the stories we tell ourselves about our place in an uncertain world

For our first edition in 2023, we have chosen the theme VISION.

Send us a story, real or imagined. Give us great writing, but more important, give us a great story. We will love you for it.

Our purpose is to encourage one another to know ourselves more deeply, to value the stories we have to tell, and to connect with a sense of feminine wisdom and community that has nourished women throughout history. 

In March, we’re asking for your stories about what it’s really like to take care of your mental health in today’s world.

Readers and writers of all religions and none are most welcome for creative exploration of spirituality and the sacred.

The purpose of The First Line is to jump start the imagination--to help writers break through the block that is the blank page.

Each submission must expressly contain a seasonal word associated with winter.
