We’re looking for pieces that celebrate nostalgia in all sorts of heartbreaking, beautiful ways. Fiction, creative nonfiction, something in between—we can’t wait to read your work.

Snapdragon is an international online literary journal for writers, artists, and all who are looking to creativity as a way to explore the healing journey.

We interpret the provocation very loosely. It is really up to you to define or reimagine the theme in a way that is helpful. Be brave and bold, have a go, and send us your best.

All of us have some connection to queer relatives, be they actually LGBTQI or not. We love storytelling about odd uncles and twisted sisters.

We are looking for beautiful works exploring Furrows; fields and farming, working with (or against) the natural environment, traditional childhoods, countryside life and imagery around earth and growth are all interpretations of this theme we’d particularly like to see

Characters like to hide, sometimes in plain sight. Show us your character's hidden truth behind the mask.

We are especially interested in the metaphysically broad; we look for the profound, real, fearless, gender-inclusive, curious voice.

What do you miss? Who do you long for? What lies buried in the past that you wish you could reclaim?

We get excited about work that explodes the status quo.

We are always intrigued as to how writers translate their work from the various themes we offer.

The theme is “Splendor” — however you conceive such glory and magnificence that comes with the word!

Submissions are restricted to those who are Indigenous and have a connection to the Great Lakes Region.

We are devoted to the exploration of the quest for meaning as it is expressed in the world’s myths, symbols, and religious traditions, with particular emphasis on the relationship between this store of wisdom and our modern life.
